Anyone got any tips for zipping on the awning? I have struggled with ours no end. Not to bad at home because you have the added assistance of ladders etc, but out bush what do you do. I have tried leaving the awning zipped on but then it is nigh on impossible to close the camper up. Any suggestions appreciated.

I have a long cable tie on my zip or i also have made a step from a folding builders platform that we use to step up into the camper, makes it that little bit easier

Another trick is to tie a couple of metres of cord to the zip pull then use a broom to lift the cord so it pulls more parallel to the zip line.  This is made even easier if a second person holds the awning up to take pressure off the zip.

Thats how we do it at home but the problem is holding it up to take of the pressure. Is there a way I wonder of progressively zipping as the camper unfolds?

vern

I just zip it up and take the weight of the awning with the other hand, its a 30 second job.

So i am interested Vern how tall you are? To take the weight of with your other hand you must be considerably taller than me.
Without using ladders i have no hope of holding the canvas high enough to take the weight..

vern

Haha yes that is a point, i'm 6'5"😉. But my 5'4" wife can do it with the step we made
