Well here's a bit of VERY quiet whiteanting going on by the local councils in the GT 
I'm not usually into petitions etc , BUT this is a step too far by short sighted dickheads that are relying on "computer modeling" to get this area "Heritage Listing" which will mean no prospecting, camping ,fire wood , fires etc.  You'll be able to walk in and take a photo and walk out

Heritage Listing means you cannot use it for fossicking, 4wding, or camping, as I understand it.
