Aussie Swag are releasing a new model shortly ... not that much more $ than the current Ultra D with much larger hard floor area and more storage, but with pretty much the same dimensions as current models.

Not just the Swag model, but some of these campers are getting just as long in the front "boot"area as the body itself ??

Is that draw bar looong or is it comparable to other manufacturers.

Like the Kimberley's and so many others, this has a LOT of storage in front of the body of the trailer.

I seem to remember reading something about the design of a box trailer being the axle in the middle of body, and then moved back 1" for every foot of body length - ie for a 7' box trailer the axle will be set at 4'3" from the front.

These trailers seem to follow that rule, but ignore the load in front of the trailer as part of the body as such...

They've just infilled the section behind where the rock screen is like a lot of other manufacturers are at present so the gas bottles etc are inside. No longer or shorter than they used to be by the looks of the photo.

which all adds to the towball weight when everyone sticks 1/2 their house in there.

$63k for a tent on a box trailer. Why would you bother. When we travelled Aus in out little outfit worth less than $10k we met so many people with new Aussie Swags, Kimberleys etc and they all raved how good they were. However they also mentioned how they did very little offroad use.

Your thoughts on the value of a CT have been discussed many times on here.  OK, your $10K CT suits you and makes you happy, that's great, congratulations.  But please do not disparage others who have purchased a more expensive CT.  It is a choice they made to suit themselves.  They are happy.  Bagging those with an expensive CT is poor form with hints of jealousy.

Your thoughts as in 'my' thoughts. Not sure I have commented on a cost post before. Simply stating that our real life example of travelling Aus and speaking with people who had expensive set ups but they actually never used them for what they were built for. Could have saved a fortune and got a different set up. They are a great trailer but if you spend that kind of money it should be used hard, not driven on bitumen. And no jealousy here champ.

X2.  Horses for courses.  I had a Kimberley Kamper Limited for around 5 years, pounded through country most wouldn't take their 4X4, never an issue other than a minor split in the seam on the water tank, stainless welded and all good.  The Kamper was sold for $3000 less than I had paid, I think I got my moneys worth, and then some.

Now own a Vista RV that has also been through some rough country and does it extremely well.   I doubt most "economy" campers would last the distance on my travels.  As said, horses for courses.

Just think Jclay, someone had to buy a new one many years ago in order for you to get your secondhand one.  The above made me curious so I did some myswag stalking.

If I had the coin I would buy one in a heart beat.  The fact Jcaly has a second hand one (according to his other threads), and has taken it where he says he has, really proves the quality of the Aussie Swag.

PS Drag racing looks like an expensive hobby.

Well said hempo. As I said they are a great trailer. I never said otherwise.

And yes drag racing is expensive at about $3k / 400m.

And again....just because you spend that sort of money, why do you HAVE to use it hard ??

If I had a choice, I'd rather take the 4wd or camper along an easy dirt track rather than a gnarly one. But good to know it would do the gnarly one if it had to ..or I needed to go there !

Caught up with Scott at Aussie Swag recently while in Brisbane and saw the new model. Compared to the old version it has a huge carrying capacity which is what the market now demands. Very impressed with the design and technology that goes into producing these.

Our '02 AUssie Swag has gone everywhere my Nav has gone in the 5 or more years we have owned it.
And a few times they both had to be winched.
Both none the worse for wear.

Because that's my opinion, just like what you have said is yours. I buy stuff to use it for what it is designed. Another example, I wouldn't buy an offshore boat and use it in a river. As I said, Aussie swag is a quality product.

Talking to Nic at regional campers at the moment to give me a price on one. Looked at a number of off road vans in Sydney and Brisbane and just taking all the information in.
