i do similar with the kids on boogie boards at the beach they have a blast
now if you could come up with an attachment that clamps on the clothesline i'll have one

You can join pool noodles end to end and put it under the plastic on either side to create a 'channel' that keeps the kids a bit more central...

I've got a rake and a wheel barrow...

The slope was made with a bobcat about 8 years ago for the purpose of this slide. I just didn't give much thought to how fast it would actually be or how I would stop at the bottom.

There is the head of a big dam only about 15m from the bottom of this slide, unfortunately it's about a 45 degree slope between the fence and the water, with a row of big gum trees and vines in between.

If I wasn't sitting at work I'd find you a link, but most medical suppliers or marital aid suppliers (I think they were called in the past) should be able to help with some water soluble lubricant.

That should speed it up.

Just make sure any joins are well over lapped, and that the top layer goes over the bottom layer and the bottom layer gets the same amount of lubricant so that the person doesn't suddenly stop and take the lower layer with them...

Used to do a lot of kayaking in the UK, which for whitewater conincided wth winter... snow boating became a regular alternative to river boating as we'd use the kayaks as sledges down hills... you could just about control them in the same way as you would on the water as putting a bit of edge on resulted in a turn. PFD's were also useful as body armour for hitting fences or shed walls...

Just to finish this one off, we've had success!!!
Sadly it's not 550m long and there's no flips into the water at the end, but still a heap of fun for all the kids (the little ones and the big ones ).

run around with the mower and catch the clippings or something similar
use it as a buffer underneath  down the edges of the plastic
that's if you get enough clippings 
might help keep you all on the runway

This worked a treat, great suggestion there.
I went down a grabbed a few smaller bales of hay (grass). One was for the sides and the rest to make the pool at the end. 



Yep, looks like it should go ok.....



And the crowd agrees!!!!
