Fantastic fans are a good option as they have an opening hatch and can either pull air in or out with variable speed.
Buy one from the states though they are way to much here

Interesting topic....fans......not sure how the mexicans go, but in NSW, we rarely have a hot night camping....not by 10pm or later ?

I could imagine in northern queensland it might be muggy of a night.....but in those conditions, does a fan make a lot of difference ??

I would hope so.... no doubt they are good, as plenty have said, but I wouldn't be able to justify the price, when cheaper, effective alternatives are around, like the OP is looking at.

Has anyone had any experience with these 12v ceiling fans, with the weather heating up I thought they might be a good way of keeping cooler in the camper, they seem cheap enough at $12.58ea but nut sure how much they would hurt when you accidentally put your hand in one. They have a diameter of 50cm and a draw of about 0.7A so I think that would probably suit a camper.




They do sell ones with speed controllers for about double the price (which is still cheap) and would probably be safer as you could turn it down to a suitable speed but I am guessing that they are just a variable resistor and, it would be more energy efficient (and cheaper) to build one using a little PWM controller like one of these and put it in a box like this

just ordered two. will see how they go. will be camping in late November so its gonna be a stinker.

More the good breeze at the end of the bed   They really are amazing. We have one that we use in our Aussie Swag and it gives a really good breeze, and we never need to run it on high speed.

Use the timer a fair bit at night.

We have 2 of the mini ceiling fans and they are great. My old man showed me them nearly 2 years ago when he hardwired 2 of them into his motorhome. They are still going strong with no issues after constant use.

Well, after finally ordering a one a few days ago it rocked up by courier today, not bad for $12.58 altogether.  Hooked it up to the camper battery and initial observations are

• First reaction whilst it was in the box was "that cute" It looked smaller than I'd imagined but after I assembled it, it was as expected.
• It seems to have a good output, a pretty large volume at low velocity which I like  as opposed to a smaller volume at high velocity of a lot of the smaller fans
• When giving it a spin it seemed a bit clunky, One of the reviews I saw on youtube of them someone also said this but then in a later review said it had seemed to wear in. I have it running at the moment and will leave it for a few hours to see if it makes a difference. 
• Probably slightly noisier than expected, I wouldn't call it loud but also wouldn't call it quiet, the review mentioned above also said it got quieter after wearing in. Its noise is never going to effect my sleeping but I have read on here some people complain about the noise their fridge fan makes so might be something to consider for those who are a bit precious about their noise.
• I was a bit concerned about the kids getting injured from putting their hand etc into one, after giving it a try I think it would likely cause tears but not blood.
• A bit of a plus and a minus is that it is very compact in the box, so packed up like this it will take hardly any space, the minus bit is that for transport in a camper I think it will likely require being pulled apart which entails one screw for each of the 3 fan blades, it's not a biggie but just something else to have to do.
