Unfortunately my was only a 4 cylinder but, being my first car, I thought it was awesome.

My first car was a Morris Marina. I never thought it was awesome. Awful, maybe.  :D

After siting for 12 years and now back on the road, I knew something in the Austin would start leaking.

On Wednesday, bit of leakage from the diff pinion seal.
A phone call to Autopro Gatton for a MK1 Cortina pinion seal.(Its had a Ford diff)
Yes, we have that in stock, it will be $20.00

About an hour to change it over and all in the world is good again.

Geez, i love old cars.

Geez, i love old carrs.

Finally solved the depleting coolant mystery on my Series 1 Landy. The bloody core plug right at the back of the block has rusted through, an inch away from the bulkhead. A new plug costs 50p but an absolute bastard to fit.

Jeepers Creepers

Lots of old Holden's have had a hole cut in the firewall to allow an easy welsh plug  repair. (Rough Bastards)

My Landy has a hole in the bulkhead hidden behind the chassis number plate. It's obviously had a leaky core plug before.

That's a hole mashed through the bulkhead with a cod chisel to be strictly accurate.

How much?
$319,000 ???

Genuine  4/70 XW GTHO in unrestored maintained original condition. Originally delivered by Fairway Ford in Adelaide, this GTHO is Factory brambles red with very rare factory wind back sunroof (believed to be 1 of 2 in this colour).  Purchased off the second owner who purchased the car in the early 70's, this HO has travelled a mere 88,000 miles.

Would say something is amiss, Why would they put it on ebay  and not through one of the known thorough dealers  like Australian  Muscle car sales or Old timers ..  ???    https://www.australianmusclecarsales.com.au/cars/1970-xy-gt-falcon-unrestored-survivor-239447

If it's a Windsor powered HO, AKA Phase I. Then the 12 slots are correct.

Our early girl Falcon we sold last year has popped backup for sale.

Pretty cool ol thing if anyone wants an affordable classic.

Definately needs the round headlight grill and a set of wheel arches on the Mk 1 Escort though .. turn up the sound https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZOINwG_4wU  .. Still like Simon McKinley wringing a BDA's neck  though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwl40XFvpLE ;D
The Torana stood up to the hit pretty well, few solid days with a porta power on the chassis straightener,  some panel and paint ...back as good as new .. The LHF Rebel rim  maybe another story though .  Just send the blue beep beep back to Japan for scrap  ;D ;D

Don't let anyone tell you classic cars are going backwards in price.

Little Austin Powers has sold for $10,500.
This could be a new benchmark for a 61 Austin.

Got his RWC done this morning, passed 1st go.

This one has been a bit of fun to do...... but, time for the next one now.

Phase 2 came out in Aug 70.  Ad says it's an April 70 build and is fitted with the original wheels, but it's definitely a clevo.

I think I've figured this out thanks to Google and an Ford book from my youth.  Apparently there is a 'Phase 1.5'.
Windsor HO's were only produced in 69.  70 onwards they were fitted with clevo's.
In August the phase 2 got solid lifters, 750cfm carb, 31 spline box/diff and the 5 slotters.

Good research.... :cup: :cup:

The Cleveland rocker covers can be seen in the engine bay shot, and that's what I was going by.

Lots of little subtleties to consider.....

Interesting that it's clearly called a Phase 2 in the CarSales ad, but the ebay ad is a bit vague about it.

Yeah, the engine is what had me stumped. I never knew about that one.

Car is the wrong colour for me anyway.

Silver Fox in the XW.   Yellow Ochre for an XY.

Only had the seats redone due to yellowing with age and the angled face of the bonnet touched up due to stone chipping  otherwise as delivered
