It's on a French 06 registration so it lives in Alpes Maratime (Nice / Cannes area) and ot can get quite dusty down there.

one of the things about registrations in Europe is that you can quite often tell when and where a vehicle was first registered by the number plate, france is broken up into 90-something areas each given a number for registration plates so the two numbers on the plate tell you where it was registered, the rest tells you what year and what number, however once the plate is issued it is very rarely changed so yes it was registered in the Alpes-Maritimes it doesnt mean its stayed there ever since.

;D ;D I was there once when a dust storm blew in form the Sahara. Is not an exaggeration to say, day turned to night in an instant. Was camping in a tiny two man tent also.

Nope.  As mentioned Sahara dust storms frequently come across the med and when you get inland it is extremely dry and dusty.  I lived down there for a while (my father is still down there) and we were forever cleaning the dust from our boats and cars.
