Caught that airport train a few weeks back Edz, through to Wynyard, but it goes through the Quay. As said its the best way, though I often take a taxi as well, but the train seems quicker. The hardest part is finding the right platform at the airport, depending on what terminal you arrive at. So my tip, do some homework on the platform location in relation to your landing gate. Gotta say, Sydney commuters seem a friendly lot. Last trip there returning to the airport on the train, there was a great conversation between the dozen or so of us in that section on the Brexit vote. Good ol' Adelaidian's treat everyone on public transport as second class citizens, being the 20 minutes city and all that, and wouldn't even make eye contact let alone converse.

Cheers and hope your appointment goes well mate.

Thanks for all the info about the train and etc, Finaly  received flight times and a travel allowance [ bonus  :D ] ..
Look out Sydney here I come, If all goes to schedule I will be lowering property values in Sydney from 11.40 am once I have landed  ;D
Then its train  to the quay and a wander off up around the corner  to Macquarie st ..
Is there anything I should be aware of on the walk from the quay ?? .. God botherers, out of control accountants, groups of  viscious girl guides etc .. Do I need to put my scary face on  ;D

Corner of Bridge and Phillip (one over from Macquarie) is the Sydney Museum (site of the first government house). In the courtyard out the front is a raised box thingy with a glass front. Looks down into the foundations and covered drains dated to the late 1790s and brick barrel drains dated to circa 1811 and another to circa 1828. Interesting for about 2 minutes.

Its that raised triangle thing in this photo  http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/maritimeheritageapp/resources/Heritage/shi/504/5045710b4.jpg

Got lucky there mate.
I lived in Sydney for 5 years and not that I used public transport all that often, but on the rear occasion that I did I can't say that I ever had much of a conversation with my fellow travelers.
My usual trip was from from Parramatta to the City and it was like a transcontinental trip, felt like I was crossing from Mumbai to Shanghai (with a detour to Lebanon somewhere in between).
Eye contact was rare and conversation even less so.

Though in saying that, short trips around the city did have a better 'feel' to me.

No I am harmless and I use deodorant. I am not a pick pocket but I will go the grope if you are a good sort.
