Boat rego

Hi all. I live in the NT and am doing a trip to the cape. I want to take a Ronnie with me but am unsure as we don't need a boat liscence or have the boat registered. My question is what do I do? Do I have to get a liscence and rego or can I get a permit for the time that I'm there? Any help would be great. Cheers.
