A good pair of thermals, a warm beanie and a good Doona. We camp all year round down here and have been in some pretty low temps

Forget doonas. Get a high quality sleeping bag with a -10 degree rating or lower.

Head poking out with a beanie on, I've been toasty warm in a swag camped in the snow.

This works for us along with condensation matt under mattress and a 4mm silver lined foam insulated mat under that. Bedding doesn't get wet  ;D A hot water bottle and donna's. Bed end awning also helps.
The blue matt is a yoga matt, you can purchase off the roll at Clark Rubber. It rolls up and lives under the bench seat when not in use.

These also work a treat. The misus puts them in her jacket pockets as well to keep hands warm during the day. Ive also used 6 packs worth in the bed a couple hours before we turn in when I forgot the water bottle.

I agree with the other dude... 2 good doonas works for us.. one under one on top.
or 1 doona and a good sleepin bag either inside it or open it like a blanket...

diesel heater best I've found is ~500 out of Chinlee.

We're off to Mt Moffatt at 2:00am tomorrow. Injune and Mitchell go down to around 13c for the next few nights and then a spell of 8-9c. Our go to is flannelette sheets and a feather doona in the camper
That been us when we have seen -6c.
Can't recommend a good feather doona highly enough.
Cheers

Most sleeping bags that fully unzip come in left and and right hand zips.  Buy one of each and zip them together for a double.
