Thanks for the heads up Bird, I have a pair of these that I'll be returning this weekend now; luckily I've only ever used them once.

Yes they are.
Only the ones pictured are recalled.

When you look at those stands, it is obvious they aren't up to scratch. There's no lateral support gussets for the upright. I'm surprised someone hasn't been squished already, using them.

Rang the number today
Lady said it shouldn't be a problem, and she transferred me to the manager of the closest store to me....after telling me that if I had any problems with him, to call back, and she'd put me onto the regional manager  :)
Spoke to store manager, explained I had no receipt, and was possible 4-5yr ago purchase....he said it would depend on the age of the stands, so I asked him where the date was on them....he said there wasn't one  PMSL
Told him I'd be in on saturday!

A lot don't have any support. There's a LOT of faith entrusted in the weld that joins the two pieces of quality imported steel together  ;D

With enough horse power, sheer ignorance and a total lack of respect for your vehicle, you'll get through....

If they were sold from 2009 and they're recalling them then why does their age even come into it anyway?

Thanks for the update bobnrob ;)

Looking at them it could be that nothing stops the screw top coming out to far and being held in place by a half a turn, only to tumble off under any weight.

so, bird - how did you get on at your local store...?

me217

i got a set similar to these, with out the screw adjustment on top. picked them up 2nd hand for 2 bucks. i only use them for holding light stuff up. like the box trailer and such. or anything i don't plan on getting under. i got a 3000kg set for the big jobs.

Not long back from the nearest Supercrap - $128 refund for the 2 pair, no questions
Had a look at the 3k pair, but they only had the one display pair in stock, I think I'll look around for a quality set
