Yes brilliant timing, mild weather, low humidity, good fuel load, light breez, go for it. Better that than the alternative no burning increasing fuel load and another summer will be here before we know it.

You seem to have completely missed the obvious.. It's Easter. The HC will be crawling with campers.. Crap timing..
Cheers, John.

But think of the the holiday pay loading they'll get!

And think of the volunteers available to assist at this time.
Before moving North I spent a lifetime of living amongst fire threat and serving within the RFS community. The window to do controlled burns canbe very limited so if the next 10 days is identified as ideal burning conditions then go for it, particularly in the VHC with the onset of the snow season that is there until late sept and before you know it it is October and the conditions change along with the ability to burn.
It's a big place the VHC so I'm sure there will still be plenty of places to go.

That is if people know they are on.
A massive %age wouldn't. I've also spent many years in the RFS in Sydney...

You need to look at the big picture double time and a half all weekend for the fire fighting crews of the department of ever changing names

Your kidding yourself if you think it is about overtime rates for retained staff. Those staff would get  OT rates for doing the burn over any weekend. And if they do get OT rates then good luck to the staff because if you have ever stared down the end of a hose with fire potentially threatening life then you may have an appreciation for what is done as a Service to the public, they deserve every extra $ the can get. You need also be aware that unpaid volunteers assist with these burns and without this assistance no burns would happen.
I think what many are missing is that burns typically start around this time of year but unfortunately for some the Easter weekend could be spoiled because this year easter falls 3 to 4 weeks earlier than usual and coinciding with ideal burn weather.
Most folk who have property in and around the areas of any proposed burns will be greatful for the burns. But I guess you can't please every one.
There is a good chance the burn won't happen as proposed as it is Easter and you know Easter means rain.
