Hi all,

I have been wondering for some time now if such a club exists. What I mean is:

I am SA born and bred. I own a 2014 PX Ranger with minor mods.

My primary reason for buying a ranger is to allow me to carry loads of stuff and to be comfortable and confident in going to new photographic locations (I tour a lot taking photos). OK in truth I bought the Ranger because it looks Shit hot... but lets go with my previous comment for the purpose of this conversation.

In conjunction with my photography, I Looooooooove camping but unfortunately I dont get a lot of opportunity to do it as my wife is sometimes less keen that I am and my photographic buddies have started to have kids.

I am not in to hardcore 4x4'ing and have limited plans to install a winch or bullbar on the Ranger. I am however prepping it for sand driving.

Are there casual clubs around that prefer to tour to a location and just chillout and some 4x4'ing?

What are your experiences with clubs?

Cheers
John

They are about, I'm in a couple of clubs in Tassie and both do a range of trips that are suitable for stock vehicles and other trips that are for those guys who want to go extreme.  I just choose which ones I want to go on, and everyone is there to help and offer constructive advice to ensure that I'm always picking up hints.

You could try investigating "common" 4wd clubs. They might have particular little interest groups.

The Pajero Club in Victoria has a proffessional photographer as a member and leads photography teaching trips 3 or 4 times a year. These are typically easy to medium 4wd trips to a variety of picturesque places.

Of course the club offers lots of hardcore, touring and social trips as well, and you don't have to have a Pajero.

Hopefully there would be clubs in SA like this as well. Probably ones that aren't to brand snobby.

Plenty of clubs like that...
Are you still in SA? If so speak with AJ on here who is/was president of Whyalla Club. You've seen his photos on here, they are average :P

Don't forget you can run trips yourself for your club like this.

You are a part of one right here... Catering for Beginners to the Extreme.  You just have to pick a date and where you want to go, give everybody a bit of notice and depending on how many members are near you location you could have 2 or 3 or 20 vehicles heading off on an Average Trip. Just takes 1 person to get the ball rolling and the person can be anyone.
