Hi everybody, Dave and Jess here.  We recently picked up our first camper, a Wild Boar forward fold hard floor.  We bought it at the show special price from the Caravan and Camping show last November.  Really happy with it, though as with all camping adventures(or so I'm led to believe) every purchase reveals many more that need to be bought.  She's a heavy girl, so until we get the supercharger for the Jeep I'll be changing gears.  I've already bought the air bags to save the arse from hanging.  First trip was to Levuka, and this weekend we're trying out the small annexe option with an overnighter at Canungra.  Hope to hear and tell of many adventures.

G'day Dave and Jess... and welcome aboard. ..

That Wild Boar unit you have looks the goods...

You mentioned you were putting in measures to counteract the weight.    What would you say the dry weight kgs are?   I would be interested to know.

You get out and in to the world -- you take more @#&$. ...You climb a little higher, ..you take less @#&$.  ...Till one day -- you're up in the rarefied atmosphere -- and you've forgotten what @#&$ even looks like....  Welcome to the layer cake son.

They say 1320kg, but closer to 2000kg loaded up.  What is the real bother is the drawbar weight, which I'm not sure in terms of quantity, but it certainly drops the Jeep, so much so that the Jockey Wheel is an issue to get down.  We had to use a jack, which is a problem if you're on your own with the Jeep as you can't access the jack with trailer on, and you can't get the trailer off without a jack(phrasing I know).  Luckily we weren't alone and could borrow one.  Air bags in the coils is a relatively easy and inexpensive fix, but I would like a bit more grunt to do a lengthy trip on anything other than flat country.

I think you should weigh it, then empty it and weigh it again..

Welcome !

As with the above problem, get your self a removable jockey wheel and clamp to use only for removing from and placing onto the tow hitch, then drop the fixed jockey wheel to take the weight or you can then swing it out of the weigh whilst the other jockey wheel holds the weight.

Then you can pack the removable one away.

Welcome & a nice outfit to boot.
Without trying to be a killjoy here's something to be aware of.
2007 info from Jeep mind, so may not be applicable in your case!

{The Wrangler can now tow 1600kg of braked trailer with the Unlimited listed at 2300kg. Note, however, that the Unlimited's allowable ball weight is well short of the normal 10 per cent of max towed mass at 170kg.)

I reckon there must be a fair % of people who tow who are over their vehicles limit ( me with the 'Cruiser) so don't be too perturbed.

Excellent Camper choice. Very nice piece of kit. I'm sure you will have your weights all sorted in due course. Oh and welcome to the Forum. Looking forward to your travel posts.

Thanks, I think the airbags will fix the problem, and to be sure I was thinking of fitting an Ark XO in due course.  The one that's on it is very basic, and is fairly extended when level.  I'll do some more research on the Ark before I shell out the $284, but it looks pretty sharp.

Welcome to the Forum, the Ark wheel is pretty popular round here and all have raved about it once fitted up
