I finally used my birthday money from last May and purchased a small Renegade gasless mig welder.
I will be doing a course when one comes up but meantime need to do a few small non structural jobs.
When the wire runs out do I need to pull the unused part from the lead or if using the same wire does the new wire push the old stuff out? If the new pushes the old does it weld as it passes through?
I watched a few Youtube videoes but they showed pulling the wire out as they were changing to a different type of wire
Cheers

Pull the unused wire out and discard it.
or use it as emergency short term tie wire

I would advise against using gasless wire as tie wire, It is way to brittle and will break without any load.

accept this as true and correct duggie, however when I say short term emergency use, I've been using the scraps of gasless mig wire in my vege garden and haven't had any problem in the last 4 years. Agree I probably wouldn't use it to hold up the broken exhaust on the Maverick.

Yip,throw it,and make sure you have a clean cut on the end that is pulled through or you can damage the liner in the hose, get your self a set of mig plyers and use only on the mig wire and cleaning the nozzle

Thanks all.
I have the welding pliers, so all I need to do is go to wire art lessons.
