Ok guys, was gunna put this in the electrical section, but as I'm not using 6 b&s I thought it's better of here........

What's the best way to secure a string of LED fairy lights to a tiled roof ?
I really want to step it up a bit this year and put some lights on the roof, but after last years effort we are looking for a better way to hold them in place.

What does everyone one else to ?

Cheers. Matt

I took a roll of tie wire and pair of pliers up with me onto the roof and used it to make hooks up and under the tiles. The ridges were more tricky, but ours needed repointing and I just found some gaps and stuffed the hooks in where I could. Left them all in place for the next year.

I ran one set of lights power in under a tile too, it was easier to get the power back to the garage that way as opposed to over the guttering, under the eaves, in the Window. I did have a convenient hole in the ceiling and no sarking to get the line back to the power point though.

Those little double sided tape hooks. I am pretty sure Bunnings will sell them. I seem to recall there were outdoor ones too

Nail gun??!!

I'd try some of the silicone roof sealant in small dobs coz it should peel off easy enough when you want to get it off.

I used the dobs of silicon 10 years ago on a tin roof with great success. Haven't had lights up for the last 6 years but the silicon is still going good. ;D

I use these and just lift the front of the tile up and tuck the plastic bit under.
I bought them from one of the "cheap" shops. $2 shop or similar, can't remember exactly which one.

The weight of the tile holds it in place.
