That's only because they wouldn't let him race with his Energy Polariser  ;D ;D

Yep Brock had many advantages over everybody else in the A9X / commodore era. I am the last person to idolize Brock. My post was more around that the age required to drive these cars today will see nobody get to 9 imo.

Here for a good time, not a long time!

Remove the rose-coloured glasses boys.

Brock was an excellent driver, but he had a very un-savoury checkered history off the track.

Don't get carried away with the hero-worship.....

:cup:
During the race they were advertising a Movie about Brock.
If they tell the real story it should be better than Once were Warriors meets Alvin Purple.

Hi Oldmate,  you must be as old as me...LOL

Even the commentators could not go back that far,,,,,,,,

I don't think Warnie ever bashed his wife, or shafted his brother or his best mate.

Ask Colin Bond what he thinks about PB........

Yeah I agree mate. As a driver brock was great, but in this day and age, with social media etc, he would not of made it as a person. He was an arsehole of track, behind the scenes.

I agree that Peter Perfect was not all that perfect in his personal life, but as a race driver, he was hard to beat....And I believe that this is what this thread is about...

time

Wasn't there a push to give Bill Brown no. 11.  He rolled so many times it would be easier to read that number right side up, or up side down. ;)

He won about 6 in his own car. They changed the rules to stop his car-hopping.

No rose colored glasses here Geoff,  I worked on one of his cars when he was with Gown Hindhaugh and got to see quite a bit of him at the time, so knew what he was like off the track but I was talking about him as a steerer , not him as a person, as said earlier different  era and hard to compare

Another broken down Ford being passed by a Holden atop the mountain  :cup:

How things have changed.

Note the lack of fencing...

Actually, the Ford had not broken down.  It had a flat tyre.  In those days, they were standard production cars and had to carry the spare, jack etc in the boot.

From memory, the Ford was leading with about 11 laps to go.

I like how the marshal just wanders down and they have a chat as the driver changes the wheel.

Right as to year and position.... :cup:

Definitely a far cry from today's setups, that's for sure. Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.....
