In one week we will join the people I use to curse and say I would never do that!  >:D
Yep, we pick up our caravan.  OK we are getting a bit soft and want to travel for longer but still want to go off the tar and try and keep away from caravan parks so we are getting a Bushtracker.  I know all of the negatives, but we have done a lot of research and time will tell.  The final push to join the dark side was recent medical issues and we thought, what the hell, let's go for it.  We are keeping our camper trailer as we still love it so please let us stay as a member.  ;D
We have been watching our van getting built and are so excited that it is only one week to pick up.  OMG....  very scary. Then it is a one week trip to sort things out, then a few more short trips and then head off on the 21 December for 12 months!  Kevin

This was our 1st photo

This was the last photo we got, hope it looks better when we pick it up ;D

Hello krisandkev,

Looks fantastic. We have kept our camper trailer for a little over a year now after getting our van. We took the camper out a couple of weekends ago, and after setting it up and pulling it down I thought, it's time to put the camper on the market. I'm completely over setting up canvas, I have medical issues as well, and it's simply getting too difficult.

Is the bed elevated above the storage compartment at the front? Looks like your setting yourself up with mega storage space.

All the best, Marschy

Yea, there is a fair bit of space including a washing machine and a large tunnel boot up the front.  I know, a washing machine!  We did not want one to start with but a lot of long term travellers said they do come in handy.
But we are mindful of the weight, so we will try and pack light.  Kevin

A washing machine??? Really.... What's next? The kitchen sink?  ;D ;D

Enjoy - have looked at Bushtracker for a while, but am not yet ready to swap from a camper...

Oooooo no that would not be a good idea.  I mean that would require us to not only mix with, but talk to camper trailer owners.  That simply would not do.

Also we will be away for that week.   ;D  Hope you all have fun, love the Rainbow .  Kevin

Does any vibration from the washing machine find it's way through the mattress.  Just curious >:D

I mean if you wanted to, could you put it on spin for longer than needed?

Don't worry, it's an age thing. Before you know it, you will be tuning your radio to the ABC.

Congratulations on the purchase - they are certainly a very nice van!!

krisandkev

We have had our new van for a few weeks now. Been on some short trips to get use to it, towed it just over the 2,000 k's in total now.  Very happy with the van and how it tows. We head off in less than 3 weeks for our 12 month trip.  Booked on the ferry to Tasmania on the 10 January.  Have spent a lot of time previously in Tasy in our camper trailer so looking forward to a bit more comfort when the weather changes down there, which is often!  A bit sad when we see our camper in our shed as we have had a lot of brilliant trips in it.  Will use it again, maybe take it over to Fraser in 2017.   Kevin

Picking it up  ;D

Camped overnight at the Amamoor State Forest last week... (Where the Gympie Muster is held)

Yea, we will be roughing it  >:D
