Hi guys, we are about to take the camper out for the first time (only a caravan park as we are not set up for showers yet) just wondering  if anyone  has used  240 volt heating in the camper, what would be the best option.

We use a cheap blow heater,with walls up it soon gets warm.

We have a Double Bed Leckie Blanket that runs from the inverter from the Deepie that is fed from Solar . Warm bed  works on so many levels  .       
Let the Plebs snuggle up to cold tarp  , they will come around

Leccy blanket and cheap fan heater.

We did one trip where we didn't take the heater and it was freezing.  Everyone had sold out in those big towns like Coober Pedy and Yunta.  Got to Broken Hill and the only thing we could buy was a fan heater designed for mounting on bathroom walls - with a flimsy pull cord that is hard to operate with canvas walls.  Never appreciated a heater so much as that one.

I never thought I would ever travel in conditions cold enough to warrant a heater, let alone an electric blanket.  That was until we hit Alice Springs in mid August a couple of years ago.  OMG....!!!  I've never been so cold in all my life.  The temps were down to -5c but it felt like -25...!

Now I've camped in the snow, pouring rain, freezing winds, even camped is a small biker's hooch in the middle of winter in Victoria and I've never felt cold like that....!

The missus cracked it and told me to go buy an electric blanket and not to come back without one.  I went to all 4 variety stores in Alice and only at the last one did I manage to get the last queen size electric blanket on the shelf, fending off 4 other people to get it.  Apparently it was the coldest spell in the Alice Springs for years and anything that produced heat was being snapped up.

We also bought a small space heater and that worked a treat too.

Maybe I'm getting old and soft but one thing is for sure......I never want to feel that cold ever again...!

We have a cheap fan heater for when we have 240v available.

Worked a treat last year in Alice Springs in July.

We have used a small fan heater / small cube shape with metal sides from Bunnings / less than $20 - good to take chill off before bed but need to keep it going through the night.

We camped central NSW one time mid winter and the Mrs made me pack the oil heater...and not a small one either. It did the trick and kept the camper warm though. Glad I wasn't trying to run it off batteries though.

How do you guys go running these off batteries?

What's wrong with using proper good quality sleeping bags? I have never had a problem with a -5 rated bag, if I feel a chill I put on another layer, my bag is 20 years old but was very exy backin the day

Never needed electric blankets even in the shed at stanthorpe during winter
