Stumbled across a thread over on 4wd action about things that go bump in the night, sighting of weird creatures and some general odd behaviour of people in the bush that people claim to have seen.  I thought the Myswaggers would have to have a story or two so thought I might start this thread and see where it goes.

Here's the link to the thread I mentioned if anyone needs some inspirations.

Ha ha , there are some that actually believe in ghosts....and there are some that consume or smoke too much " stuff "...  ;D

I've seen a cow up pretty close during the night, but I don't know how many beers you would need to drink to think it was anything but a cow ??  >:D

I was explaining to Mrs. Jeepers last night that when you die you get reincarnated, but you must come back as a different creature.
She said she would like to come back as a cow.

I said, "You're obviously not listening."

There have been many reports of strange things in the night in the High Country  . Some can be passed off as animals moving about ,just doing their thing . Strange tracks in soft ground  , disturbances in the bush . unexplainable sounds coming from the darkness .

Sounds like a catch at Knockwood to me  .
The unexplained will catch you out till its explained to you    ???                                    :cup:

I remember when we took the kids camping and put them in their own tent for the first time.

Two possums decided to have a fight right outside their tent.
I assume most of you would have heard possums fighting, its noisy and weird, but think of two young kids.

They didnt sleep all night, but we had a very restful day the next day

That could be put down to the rare endangered Speewa - .. They were hunted to near extinction in the 1800s in vast quantities.. They were hunted for their pelts, and marinated livers, marinated kidneys, marinated ribs, marinated rumps, and marinated brains.. but the pre marinated tongue was apparently very toxic to the un-initiated... The Horn of the Speewa is believed to be one of histories greatest aphrodisiacs which is why they were hunted originally.

The strange tracks were put down to crawling on all 4's part of the time, usually after the sun went down, the Speewa's weren't very good at standing erect.. It's believed there are only 1 -2 breeding pairs left in the wild, but one can be seen regularly in the Travelling circus that can be found in Victoria and occasionally other parts of the country.

YMMV

Dont know about ghosts or smoking stuff .. But did have a few puzzling things did happen years back [ 30 yr ago ] ..
Living in an up staiars flat.. down stairs entry door locked and windows barred, two flights of timber steps, ones closest to the hallway of the flat creaked badly when stepped on.. Flat mate was away on an Army exercise, just me and my girl there .. 1am to 3am at least  two or three times a week for several weeks at a time, you could hear someone walking on those stairs and make them creak and move .. even changed the locks while oldmate was away, still happened .. No other access to that area from below ...When I was away on exercise oldmate and his girl had it happen with them too ..
Even the lady living in the flat underneath us heard it and mentioned it ..
Used to happen about four times a year, We just got to the stage of saying " the ghosts back again " .. Funny thing is about ten years ago, Through coincidence I  met a lady that had bought that flat [ she had just started at my work ] and she told me about the strange going ons with the stairs and being a bit freaked out by it .....

Up until 20 years ago I also never believed in ghosts until my girlfriend moved into share accommodation in this old Queenslander house. When she moved in the other flatmates told us the house had a friendly ghost and we thought they were pulling out leg.

Her room was downstairs and it wasn't long before we knew no one else was home, but you could hear doors and windows open or someone walking around upstairs. At first we would run upstairs thinking it was the housemates playing tricks, but no one else was home and this went on for years until she moved out.

My girlfriend also had her cat sleeping in her room and the creepiest part was every couple of weeks the cat would wake up hissing and going into fight mode as it could sense/see something we couldn't. Sometimes its head would turn just like it could see somebody walking past.

I am now a believer

Not weird as such, but have had two large male kangaroos decide to fight it out right beside our camper in the middle of the night. They are LOUD, their grunting is deep, and the thump when they kick each other make me not wish to fight one any time soon.

You want to hear something that makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up, At 2 in the morning ... listen to this ...http://aso.gov.au/titles/environmental/bird-and-animal-calls/clip1/
Play this clip ...
Always wanted to play it from a remote speaker beside a backpackers camp on Fraser in the early hours ... Reckon it would be a hoot to see the reaction ..

One day when I've had a few too many, I'll tell my story of a night in my swag with a monstrous four legged hairy beast stalking me.

Either that or ask my wife and kids. They seem to find much humour in telling the story :(
