I have a Pajero diesel and looking at camper replacements.

Before proceeding any further, I'd like to find out what it is like to tow something that is approx 2T with my Pajero.

Is there anyone, that lives on Bris Nth Side, who has a unit that weighs approx 2T, and would allow me to come over (appropriate remuneration included ), hook it up behind the Pajero, and just see how it feels to tow something of that weight behind the Pajero.....So I can get a feel if I want to proceed down that path.  Or have to pick other paths...

Hi Mark

The Kimberley Karavan came in at 2160kg a fortnight ago when fully loaded and with a ball weight of 170kg.

You know where I live if your interested and I am happy for you to have a go just so long as you have electric brake controller installed in the Pajero. I will be home most of this coming weekend.

HI Mark

Just guessing here but are you considering either a 2T or something lighter?

I noted a big difference between towing the 2T expanda and a 1.3T Jayco Swan.  Having said that your Paj would do it fine.

cheers

Daz,
something that will probably be approx 2t loaded....I have a NP Pajero (3.2 turbo diesel manual) and I'm just wanting to get a feel as to how heavy it feels, and whether I could do offroad stuff with that sort of weight on the back.

Always give 100%... Unless you are giving blood.. then it may not go so well...

Good idea to drive around with 2T and see how YOU feel about it.....

Offroad stuff ??  with 2T, you won't be doing too much, only because it will probably be a caravan, so height, width and sheer size will limit where it can go....but dirt roads will be OK..

I had a Challenger ( chipped ) towing a 1.4T van and it certainly didn't tow it easily as some may have you believe...but I'm not one to be happy sitting on 80 k/ph either !
But the biggest problem is being a manual.....getting caught at a set of traffic lights on a hill is not something you want happening too often !!

I wouldn't be doing anything offroad with 2T behind the Pajero.  Conventional wisdom suggests that offroad tow ratings should be about 1/3 to 1/2 (at most) of the on-road vehicle rating.

My NT Pajero tows my 1.5T camper trailer no worries, including maintaining the speed limit up Cunninghams Gap (and doing plenty of overtaking).

I have a car trailer at work. (Warana) You're welcome to stick your camper on it and go for spin.
