I have caught 6 mice in 48 hours in my shed out the back. They may be coming from the nearby railway line but I'm not sure if they have a nest etc in my shed. The dog keeps sniffing at the bottom shelf and the bench so I took all the stuff off and found mouse Shit but no nest as such. I have attached a couple photos to see if anyone has any ideas on where the bastards nest? Do I keep trapping them and they'll disappear or do I need to step up and do something else?

Go to a Pet Shop or somewhere that has snakes and get the snake chit. Then take it home and spread it around.

So long as you have tried your best, you should have no regrets.

Its the time of year for them to find a warm dry home for winter.  I permanently have a few baits safely tucked away behind work bench etc all year and this keeps them at bay.

Cheers Glen

Hi,
Best thing I have found is good quality mouse traps, bait them with peanut butter, no name brand and keep it in the shed for mice duties. I would not use baits as pose issues for children and dogs.

Haha, my old man has always kept an organised shed so it's obviously rubbed off on me.

I have 2 traps and have caught my 7th mouse this arvo. Might try the snake Shit idea, as in the reptile, not me...

Got any paper or soft stuff like fabric etc bundled up somewhere? Can you smell anything like piss anywhere? I found a mouse living in the drawers in my shed, under some plasterboard joint fabric. They had made a good mess, smelt awful.

Pull stuff out you haven't moved in ages and make sure they aren't nesting somewhere.

Noticed the fishing rods, if you've got any soft plastics, or burley pellets they don't mind them.  We had one in the shed, Ate all of my plastics after eating a hole in the case I had them in, then they ate the burley (unopened packet), and they ate a bottle of sunscreen

Try you tubing mouse bucket traps. They work a treat and stay set forever. I once saw a garbage bin with the entire surface of the water covered in mice.

Can't really help, just find it ironic that someone with the user name Snake is asking for advice on now to deal with mice...lol.

There used to be a sign above the hangar door at Cunnamulla airport which said "Don't shoot the snakes - they keep the miss down".

We grow and store a lot of oaten hay on our farm. Vermin can almost take over if not kept on top off.

I find the good quality bait blocks used in conjunction with the TomCat bait stations work the best.

Pet friendly...... And the stinking farrrrken vermin love going into them for a feast of bait!!

I'll get some pics later on today.

Use bait (those blue bait blocks work well) but put it inside some pipe. Block both ends of the pipe with mesh which is large enough to let the little blokes in. Hide the pipe somewhere 'safe' and put a Besser block or similar on top to prevent it being moved by children and dogs.

I've now killed 9 mice in 3 days. I have no idea where the pricks are coming from. I need something to deter them, killing them is easy but I want them to piss off for good.

I've seen these (and similar) advertised on TV and always wondered if they worked - you are in a prime position to buy one and test it and let us all know if it works

No baits
No smelly rotting carcases
No danger for kids and pets
No cost tome :-)

Seriously though - its worth a try

Here is what we use in our hay sheds to keep the vermin at bay.

The bait stations work real well and are pet friendly.

A good quality bait block does the trick well.

We have tried some cheaper bait blocks, but they don't work as well. The mice seem to stink like all farrrk when dead. The good quality blocks kill em without the smell!!

So I ended up killing 11 mice and re-arranged my shed. Took all the warm stuff and a roll of carpet off the bottom shelf and putting them up higher. I've kept the traps set but haven't had any nibbles now since Sunday so I reckon the word has been spread amongst the rodent community to piss off and go to the neighbours house instead.
