I just noticed I was on 299 posts so I thought I'd post again to hit 300 and see what happens.  ;D

Congrats Berg.  Must be a good sign, 300 posts and a good trip ahead!  :cup:  Geez I just noticed that you're beating me!

This is shaping up to be a massive one Karen!!! How far can we stretch a line up of camper trailers down Fraser Island :o

I think it could even be worthy of some stickers and coolers again.......

I have 2 hands, one for the "Cape Capers" cooler and one for the "Fraser Fanatics" cooler.  :cup:

What about a MySwag banner to place into the sand dune on the beach? Or a communal marquay?

Coolers! Stickers! I can see to that again when we get a little closer and we have some numbers

As for the Banner, I reckon I might be able to do something there as well  ;)

Well if were not bankrupt by then and still have the camper (I hate work or actually the lack of it ATM) it will mean we should have some funds available for some sand action.

Sounds like a good enough excuse to finally get to Faser, put us down as a tentative for now and will confirm after the new year.

Sounds like a great week ........... as we love Fraser.  If it wasn't my busiest time at work and no one being allowed to have holidays from April to June inclusive I would be there with bells on, though on the other hand I can't speak for Yogi, he does comment that he would go without me!!!  We always beach camp and have never had an issue with the dingos, considering last year we had a dingo visit our camp site everyday - just made it more exciting.  However, we do make sure we follow all the rules when it comes to food etc.

Two years ago we had three days left to a three week stay on Fraser and Yogi ran out of all alcoholic beverages, OMG what were we to do  ???

We decided to buy a carton of Dark and Stormy cans at Cathedral Beach ....... paying a grand total of $120.00.

Hi Dazza,

Thinking of up past the Maheno a bit.  It will all depend on what is available space wise for the amount of people that come along.  Hope that helps.

And bearing in mind that Myswaggers won't be the only punters camping up the beach strip the Myswag Fraser Trippers could be spread out for quite a fair way. UHF will be essential for organising anything.

I was waiting for the "Nah you can hear Karen for miles, no need for UHF's".  ;D

Berg

At least we can hear you coming so it gives us plenty of time to hide  ;D

I haven't modified anything on the camper since we got back, that's a record  :o

I have seen a picture of a camper with a big hole in the side of it since we got back though..... :-X

We were going to cut a hole in the side of ours too before Fraser, but someone smart ordered their camper in 2 pac paint.  ::) Which means a pretty big job. I think I would have to leave a kidney as payment as well, which would leave a hole in my side too.  ;D

So that saves some cash to put towards the important things like fuel and beer for the trip.... 8)

We are now likely starters for this trip as well, and in a discussion over beers before Xmas there were a few other Sydney based members expressing their interest.

Sounds good Jules. Pam is pretty keen as she has family in Hervey Bay she wants to catch up with. Will depend on the itinery as to when we do that before or after the 'Island Fling' :cup:

Karen

Glad to hear that people are still thinking about this awesome trip and getting excited.

Just to give you an idea of timings, our plan is to be on the first barge over from River Heads on Saturday morning the 1st May.  We would then have a meeting point, say at Happy Valley or Eurong Beach for example, giving everyone adequate time to travel from the barge and then set off together to choose our camping spot.  I understand that not everyone will arrive at this time but hopefully we can get the majority together and then there will be arrangements in place for the rest to locate us.  As to how long you stay is entirely up to you.  Our departure will be Saturday 8th May and more than likely on the afternoon barge.

I have spoken to Fraser Island Ferry's today and bookings can be made as soon as you like.  For those travelling from the North down to Fraser I would advise that this be done sooner rather than later as the barge only runs 3 times a day from River Heads.  We will be booking on the 8.30am departure.  The following websites should help:

http://www.fraserislandferry.com.au/

http://www.fraserislandbarge.com.au/

Anything else that anyone has questions about please don't hesitate to ask.

Cheers
Karen

Karen, I've only camped at Central Station previously, any tips for how we might manage the toilets and showers that many people are a bit keen on? I know this will be important to a few of the ladies I've spoken to.

Do beach camper just dig a pit?

Can one rent a sand spear, or are they cheap enough just to buy one?
