Finally got out of bed this morning and the sun was shining. Shower, shave and ****. Breakfast then outside to clean up some odd jobs, felt the wind pick up and temp drop about 5°. Next thing sideways rain bordering on sleet. Gotta love the unpredictable Victorian weather;D

Only one thing to do. Head inside and burn wood on the indoor campfire

Gee... hate there to be any fires running today...

Melbourne is expected to be lashed by damaging winds on Wednesday as severe weather makes its way across the state.

A warm to hot northwesterly airstream is forecast to bring wind gusts of up to 100km an hour with peaks expected about 10am, 4pm and 8pm.

The Country Fire Authority has declared Wednesday a day of total fire ban across all of Victoria except East Gippsland

Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Scott Williams said the weather system was unusually intense.

"It's not just during the day, it's into early evening too," he said. "It's likely to have a lot of intensity in the winds and very high temperatures."

Cloud cover will see Melbourne reach a top temperature of 33 degrees. In the north of the state, Mildura will swelter in 39-degree heat.
