Petrol driven hydraulic log/wood splitter. Who has one and what's it like?

As the title suggests, who has a wood splitter and is it cheap and nasty or quality built? Looking to buy one that's reliable and in Melbourne.

I bought a 50ton version from argmachinery on eBay 2years ago, so far done around 15-20 ton of mixed timber including iron bark.... Works very well for a Chinese import, payed around the $900 mark via auction...

G'day Fuji, I have had a 22ton unit that I got second hand and it worked a treat, and I used it for about 4 years and split rounds of timber about 15in thick and about 30in across. Trick I learn't was to grease the blade to make it easier. After the fire place burnt out , I replaced the whole lot with a reverse cycle air con. B

Naaaa, just trying to make life easier. Always going to have a fire so may as well invest in one. I can throw it in the trailer, take it to Nagambie cut and split and go home.

I used to have a miller falls 30ton splitter with an 6.5hp kohler engine. brought it from vic somewhere for around $1200 (4 years back). I was splitting around 25ton a week of mainly iron bark with it during winter. couldn't find a bit of wood that would stop it. had it for 3 years then sold it for $1000. only thing it ever needed was an o ring replaced on the lever. if using it on your own its not much faster than splitting by hand but you don't raise a sweet.

I got one of these little bangers back in 2012 ant it works a treat so I can only assume a larger more powerful unit would work well.

I've got a Oregon 28ton splitter, and it is absolutely brilliant.
9hp Kohler engine, starts first pull every time.
Have not found anything it can't split yet, and have put some nasty knarly wood through it.
I picked it up for $1650, come with a 3 year warranty.

Another brand that is worth a look is the Redgum splitter, similar price to the Oregon and has a 6hp Honda on it.

I have a few mates who have Chinese brand splitters that do the job well also.
The green Miller Falls 40 tonners are pretty good for the money, I'm just not real big on the Chinese motors.

If you want the best a Whitlands Engineering  Super axe is the way to go, but bloody expensive!!

Second one of these we have one the same and it works a treat, I have taken the plain bearing wheels off and replaced them with 13" wheels with proper bearing hubs so it can be towed between farms
