electrical wiring

hey possibly a stupid question...  im thinking of putting a tool box on the front of our 88 cub cruiser trailer's draw bar and having a 15 amp weather proof  gpo put on the outside with our 12 volt battery and inverter with its wiring inside etc with  lighting and 12 volt weather proof socket then run it into the trailer...  son inlaw is a  sparky by trade so he will be doing all the wiring but just want to know is this an acceptable practice or does all wiring need to be on the actual  trailer housing itself cheers  also how do i comment on my post to thank others that respond

Do you just want the 240 volts for charging the battery?  Or will you be running 240 outlets elsewhere?  If just for the battery, easier just to pop the toolbox lid whilst the charger is running as it will need a bit of ventilation anyway.

no i want to use tool box as central point  for the  240 volts then run power to trailer

There is a standard for 240v installations in caravans its AS3001-2008 I think is the most current. If son inlaw is sparky he shouldn't have any trouble getting a copy of the latest one.

The main points are double pole switching and the way the cables are protected.

Check the standard cant go wrong!
