Not good for Jeep Owners...

I dont have a jeep, and have more bar work than I probably need, but this is not good for Jeeps.
Was it recalled in Australia too?

This recall has been around in Australia for some time now.  I owned a Cherokee until 6 months ago, but mine was not only fitted with the towbar from new but I also had the steel bash plate which protected the tank from stones and rocks on the 4wd tracks, so I didn't worry about it - but I had no idea that the fuel tank was plastic until I got round to fitting the bash plate.

Most people on the ausjeepoffroad forum were delighted to find out that they would get a free towbar!

I always thought this was a U.S. standard, fuel tank protection from rear impact? When GMH exported the Monaro as a Pontiac GTO, the fuel tank had to be relocated to the boot for this reason.
Maybe it's a GM standard or practice, not US?

Although I do feel sorry for the men and women that have suffered because of the tragedy caused by such a flaw ...

Judging by the Hollywood movies, fuel tank explosions (even at minor collisions) are standard with American cars.

Assuming you're referring to current models, why would you buy a Jeep?.....um, let me think!

They go better, drive better,  ride better, stop better,  sound better, smell better, look better, use fuel better, pull better, and sell better than all the dinosaur trucks designed last century.  Did I mentioned they have heated and cooled seats!

Its the same thing as having a wife or girlfriend.

Some wives/girlfriends are really good and give no trouble but are limited in their performance.
Then ya get some who are difficult, hard to get started and leak fluids and are always dirty, but stuff me sideways, they do perform some kinky sh!t.......

yeah............
so cant tell what year or color it was, but it was a 2005ish jeep cherokee.
Caught fire, pulled off the highway just north of the Thurgoona Exit. Instead of staying on the tar he had pulled all the way off in to the long grass and caused a "little" bonfire
