Son was chatting to somebody in Portland, Oregon yesterday arvo, & mentioned petrol prices.

They said that they're currently paying $6.58/gallon, which sounds bad, but works out to only ~$1.73/l, but that's USD so that then becomes $2.38/l AUD  ::) :o

Considering prior to the Biden Administration it was about $2 a gallon and been steadily increasing to about $4 - 5 a gallon prior to the Russian Invasion of Ukraine.

In our current times of racism calls over anything, why does white get the first go in chess yet black has first go in checkers?

I'm too buggered to do the maths, but did you allow for the fact a US gallon is only 3.75lts and ours is 4.5lts.

Im not good at maths and Im certainly not wise....

But they removed 20 cents off fuel excise?

Why has fuel dropped close to 70-80 cents

2.20-2.30 down to 1.50-1.55 ?

Shouldn't it drop 20 cents?

And why is it that Costco were the only retailer to drop the prices immediately?

The attendant at Moorabbin told me last week that they are getting 4-6 down deliveries a day they're moving that much fuel!!

Sitting in traffic, this is the M1, Byron Bay turn off looking south towards St Helena.
Also the hours spent in lines at airports.

Some don't have any option, other to take the days off and try to get away.

Just like holidaying during the school holidays... yes, it's bedlam, but if you don't have another option, do you just stay home?

Or just accept the fact that you will sit in traffic for a while, but you will still get home and have saved an annual leave day for another time.

While consumers can cut back on petrol kms with price heavy transport and industry can't if you want your supply chain up and running-
https://continentaleconomy.com/2022/03/28/diesel-shortage-may-trigger-new-global-economic-crises/

You could all rush out and buy an EV instead with all that Gummint helicopter money  :-*
https://insideevs.com/news/580338/is-this-future-waiting-charge-tesla-supercharger-station/

There's no Great Evil conspiracy against consumers within engineering, manufacturing and supply. Just the many tradeoffs incurred to satisfy diverse tastes, priorities and wallets. But first comes all the insatiable Gummint eggsperts, nanny-staters and usual suspects.
