Looks like I will padlock the chains to make it a bit harder.

thats why i padlock my safety chains so that if they wanted to use them they would have to either cut the safety chains or padlock - bring their own safety chain, i also have both wheels chained with hardened steel chains and padlocks to the suspension, and leave the stabilizers down.
I am also looking at fitting the CCA GPS tracker with the ability lock the trailer brakes - just need to save up more $$

Have had two pics emailed to me lately of one of these laying where caravans used to reside. If you're going to rely on this crap, FFS lock your spare wheel, or remove it !!

Saw another pic a while ago of a wheel with axle and clamp still attached. Was tandem boat trailer towed away with a single axle.

I hate thieving scum.

For my mind if you want to make it hard for someone to steal your trailer or car, feed a chain or cable through your spokes of the rim and attach to you suspension or some part of the chassie.

x2. This is what I do and either use a chain or even one of GG's security cables.  Just need to remember to take them off before driving off

When I had no choice but to use the driveway [did so for about 24 months] I parked it with the hitch facing away from the street, and took one wheels off.

That is fine if you're at home, but you still have an issue when you're out camping and have unhooked the trailer and gone for a tour in your car.

Unfortunately all the chains and locking devices in the world wont stop a thief with a cordless grinder wearing a 1mm thick blade. We use them at work to cut off high tensile 16mm bolts and it does it quickly with EASE!! Yes its noisy, but how many people are going to say something if they see a bloke (or three) using an angle grinder in the middle of the day? And if there's no one else around, all the better for the thief.

A mate of mine had a brake locking system on his EH Holden. When it was stolen using a tow truck, the thief simply cut the brake lines and that was that.

A tracking system, with no warning stickers or flashing lights, so the thief doesn't go searching for it, is probably the best bet in getting a CT back. Failing that, that's why insurance is a necessary evil.
