Bloody unlucky mate.
We have had our Evacool for 5 or 6 years now. I can't fault it. It's a very economical fridge (95lt). It's been to the Cape twice and many other rough roads, it's also been dropped. It just keeps on going.

kiwipride

Still have NOT got my refund from Evacrap. They have the second fridge back for nearly a week. Last Wednesday I was told over the phone that the monies would go though that day. Now I am being told that it has to get "signed off" by the big boss, whatever that means. Twice they have lied to me now!!!!

That's pretty poor mate, fwiw I've got an Evakool 60ltr and can't fault it, and last week got a 2nd hand Bushman 35/55 ltr fridge and it went from 26 to -4 in about 40 minutes  ;D

G'day Kiwipride,

Mate you've sure had the run around by the sounds of it.......... in saying that, i've had one of Evakool's white f'glass 60ltr units for a few years now, it's never missed a beat.

I'm guessing Evakool got into the import units to compliment their Aus made units, no doubt they seen a demand for cheaper fridges, and thought why not......... wonder if they're still thinking that now.... though, it does appear your situation is just plain unlucky, as i haven't seen too many other negatives on here regarding their fridges..... hope they sort you out mate, and hope this isn't the beginning of the end for Evakool.

I doubt that its the end of the line for Evakool ... and without trying to be overly disrespectful to our complainant, lets remember that we're only getting one side of the story here. I for one would like to listen to both sides of the story prior to making an objective judgement on this situation.

Anyway ... I hope that our trans tasman transplant has more success with the next chully bun.

Another happy Evakool user here, a 47L fiberglass jobby.
I cleaned mine a few weeks ago and went from ambient [about 32C] to 2C  in about 50 minutes, and that was empty.
Seems to be a common theme going on, everyone wants to save a few bucks, but costs more in the long run.

Agree with you both.......... Like i said, i'm really happy with my unit, just would hate to see Evakool take a diabolical turn for the worse, same goes with any other good Aussie business. Doubt this is the case though..... especially looking at thier great history of good product and customer service.... i did do a bit of research through different forums etc before buying my fridge from them a couple of years back, and found nothing but good things being said about them. Hope all goes well for all parties concerned.

Of course Mal, my side only, but I would be more than happy for a Evakool rep to post here... ;D I have just stated the facts. I purchased an Evakool because of the good rep they have. I just had very bad luck I guess. I am now more disappointed with the response (they have acknowledged that both fridges are faulty) regarding the refund.

I have since bought a CFX50 (price match Anaconda) so would like my monies back to offset that payment.

Calling Evakool, Calling Evakool!
You have an unhappy disgruntled customer.

Kiwi if you havent already done so, keep a diary of events, telephone calls, discussions, receipts, names  promises made by them etc etc.
As I have previously stated you have rights and protection under Aust consumer law.

Deep Pockets and Short Arms springs to mind

So SWMBO called Evacrap today and was told that it was sitting on their desk and that it will be done soon. She told them it must be done now as they have had our money for over one month. They said that they will do it right away. My wife then got a text 20 minutes later from Evacrap saying that they can only refund half today because they have a limit on their machine!!!!

I can not believe how you are being treated.  We have a Evakool and love it but from your experience I would not but a new one.  Kevin

Call em up & try  to speak to upper management?
I would be livid if getting this type of responce from them.
Go hard!
The difference  between ordinary customer service  and
Extra ordinary  customer service  is just that little bit extra
A big fail to Evakool on this one.
A shame really.
Cheers

Deary Dear Me
it appears they have got even worse than the dealing I had with them. Why do they have to make something so simple, sooooo bloody hard.
Keep persevering Kiwi I don't think they do it deliberately.

If they are NOT doing it deliberately, then they must be absolutely inept. Take your pick as to which is worse. I would be ANGRY to put it mildly.

Not good enough but every mob have their bad moments.

evakool

Evakool is clearly disappointed to hear of Jason's experience and is pleased to advise the matter has been resolved.

Unfortunately all manufactured products can at some time or the other malfunction and it is for that very  reason  they are sold with a warranty.

In Australia we are fortunate to have some of the best consumer protection laws in the world.

All Evakool products are sold with a guarantee which is supported both by our service department in Queensland as well as a nationwide  network of dealers and service agents.

Evakool is proud of its customer service record and stands by all our products.

We accordingly would advise all our customers if you ever have a problem with an Evakool product , whether new or used  to contact us directly , for professional advice and expert service.

Allan

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

It was speaking with you personally that swayed my wife and I into purchasing a 45lt EvaKool Travel Mate at the Brissy camping show a couple of years back.

We'd originally gone there to decide whether to buy an Engel Eclipse or Waeco. We were aware of your other Aussie made models, and their great reputation in the marketplace, but weren't too keen on splashing that much cash.

After speaking with you on the way in, we mooched around the show, eventually gravitated back to your stand. Umming and ahhing at the plethora of refrigeration models on display. Eventually settling on the 45lt Travel Mate. Value for money it was head and shoulders above anything else available at the show, or elsewhere for that matter. Its still going strong, robust and frugal enough on the power consumption side of the equation. We are more than happy with our purchase.

I'd have no hesitation whatsoever in doing business with EvaKool again.

Cheers.

Thank you Allan and Evakool for taking care of kiwiprides faulty product and refund issue. (as by consumer law you were required to have done so)

Having said that your response is a stock standard everyday company reply. There was for instance no mention of reviewing systems and policies or even a gesture of goodwill to kiwi such as a freebie or something to help compensate him for his time, frustrations and angst.

Kiwi did contact Evakool (numerous times) and it would appear he did not get Professional advice and Expert Service so without the underlying issue of policy and procedures at your end being addressed I fear the problems of consumer frustration can and will persist.

Anyway that's my two cents worth

Well said. This was my issue too. I could have handled the bad luck issue with being sent two faulty products, but it was the service that concerned me the most. Fortunitly I found Allan's email and then and only then things got done.

Thanks for your help Allan, really, but it shouldn't have come to that.

Also, welcome to the forum.
