I know we live in a different world now but I was wondering do any of you guys and gals still play board games ( Snakes and Ladders, Ludo, Monopoly etc) anymore.
The reason I ask is, Jen was cleaning out some cupboards this morning and bought out some of the games we use to play with the kids when they were younger and living at home. ;D
Wow that bought back some beautiful memories.
I used to really enjoy Twister too  >:D

We bought our daughter Monopoly as a card game for xmas (yes it exists as a card game), it's gotten a good run over the past weeks since then and several Adults have enjoyed playing the new version quite abit.

We have an old Scrabble set, wooden tiles, and still play it often although we've changed the name to "Squabble"

Yep. That and Test Match were my faves.

We played test match too it was at my Dad's house, we played a lot of board games when we were there, monopoly, cluedo, great Australian gambling game, not sure if it was for kids but we loved playing it I think I have it here now.  Other favourites Pictionary, yahtzee, battleship, think I need to get some of them out and use them

Pass the Pigs, is a hoot ( or an oink). Small easy to pack and the kids love it. Kills the time on miserable days.

Malooski

Gotta pack the Scrabble!

We used to play trouble as kids and now I love playing it with the nephews. Uno was another childhood favorite. We had 6 days on Great Keppel Island over New Year for our family Christmas, 17 adults and 8 kids. Each afternoon while the kids had a nap there was a Uno grudge match for those adult that were game enough  ;D

It's certainly not a game for kids but has anyone played Cards Against Humanity? Freakin hilarious but you often get the feeling you're going to hell in a hand basket while playing. It's worth googling.
Showing the grey nomads how it's done :-D

Mik01

Another one for Uno here.
Brother and law and I pull out Trouble when we have a few, and go popomatic on each other! The girls hate the popping noise, which I suppose is half the reason we drag it out. :worthles:
But it's a great game, simple and fun!

Word games get a bit of a run in our place; scrabble, boggle, upwards. We like the 5 tile version of scrabble where each person starts with 5 tiles. You then have to arrange your own tiles to make words, the first person to use their 5 tiles calls out and then everyone has to pick up more tiles. If you are too slow at making words you get stuck with heaps of tiles building up in front of you. Its much quicker than the traditional scrabble and more than 4 people can play,  so it is good if you have a few people who want to play.

I always found Scrabble to be more fun if we were very flexible with the rules, and didn't keep score....

That's right Uno, Old Maid, Red 7s were fun card games that always turned into a YOU CHEATED card games ;D.
What was the name of the board game where you had to pick a card from a pile and act out what was on the card eg sing a song ???
We didn't need batteries back then to recharge the board games when out camping  :cup:

Another vote for scrabble.

We have 'family games night' once a week where we turn off technology and all play board games together. We have hungry hippo, kerplunk, operation and some fishing game at the moment.

I grew up with card games.  Rummy, Canasta, 500, etc  But not euchre.  Euchre is a crap abomination of 500 that is played by four year olds.

Cribbage is our main game.  The board comes out with a bottle of port, fun times.
Do not PM me for technical advice - start a thread.

Yep. That and Test Match were my faves.
Thet brought the Test Match game out on the cricket show at lunch during the Boxing Day test to show the field set ups - reminded me what a great game it is.
