Thought I might post these, I asked Drifta if I could buy the return on it's own but they said it wouln't work. So I set to and made my own

9mm Marine ply and 20x20 aluminium angle. The end legs are tent oles just like the ones on the Drifta return. I had to buy a 4.9m sheet of laminate as the colour is only made by one place. The laminate was pricey - $250, the rest of the materials about $100 and a couple of weekends work.

I've now added the undershelf and finished lacquering it all. Sent to Drifata via facebook, they liked it.

Hi all
That looks fantastic!
It's given me a couple of idea for my ply kitchen.  It came from Cameron Campers, but has no return.
I'd like to attach one that is removable like yours, how does it fasten to the kitchen itself?  Is it just aluminium angle dropping into a slot?
Let me know, a photo would be great.
Regards
Pedro

The punter

It uses cut down angle brackets into slotted timber, pics will be easier, I'll get some up for you

stiffbreeze

damn that looks really well done. Looking forward to the pics.

The punter

OK heres how they attach to the existing drifta

The tonneau rubbers are just for transport in trailer, the angle brackets drop in to the slots. The other end is piano hinged and the bottom shelf slots in with the same system both ends

Excellent photos
Explains it perfectly.
Thanks for your efforts re photos
Last nights storm (in Townsville) destroyed my camper protective cover (a cheapie thing)
So I have no excuse now to get out there tomorrow, take some measurements (before it gets too hot), and hook in!

How much do you have left and where are you located.

I'm after some to do a small fold up table on the inside of the smaller rear door of the Jackaroo.
Happy to purchase and assist in defraying your costs, rather than face the same quantity problem.
I'm in Vic, can get to most parts of the Greater Port Phillip Conurbation fairly easily.  I.e. Anywhere between Queenscliff and Phillip Island.  LOL!

I'm in Adelaide, so unless you need an excuse for a Flinders trip? If you only wanted a small bit I'd just give it to you.

Do you get any flex using 9mm?
I'm doing something similar but wasn't sure if 9mm would be strong enough for a table without additional support etc. In the store the sheet seemed to bend a lot.
Super keen to hear back.
Cheers

A little, bit the ally angle provides enough stiffening. As long as you are not putting huge weight on it I think it's fine. Just had another trip with it and it works a treat!

Apologies for reviving an old thread...but I got a lot of inspiration off this thread to build my own foldover extension and started doing some research here in Melbourne to try and buy offcuts of laminex sheeting as I didn't want to spend +$250. After what was a brilliant find, thought I'd share.

Found this mob on ebay and thought I'd check their factory out yesterday. Ended up buying a massive sheet that will easily cover my foldover extension plus a shelf and maybe another table if I decided to build one. Price tag - $5. Tons of colours etc, just a ripper shop.

I have no affiliation with these guys, just a super happy customer.
