We are technically not members of the camper trailer fraternity....have an Active Camper (slide on), which we've owned for 5 or so years. Decided a coupla years ago to take long service/rec and do an 8 month tour. Comfort was a deciding factor, so we purchased a full sized van (ensuite etc) for the trip (composite construction, independent suspension) and set off. I'll have to learn how to post an image, so as to show our route!! Completed the trip....fantastic. Sold the van yesterday, only purchased for this trip and wouldn't have been used again as whilst comfortable, was limiting in many respects. I'm about to begin building a trailer with aluminium top section (gull wing doors, size of the tray) which we had for the trip, in order to cart fuel, water, 80 litre freezer, solar, shower, bbq etc. Sleep in slide on, live out of trailer. Heading off for Kalumbaru next July, must get the trailer built and sorted before then!!
