I'm just watching the Cricket and they were taking about their heros when they were kids.
My dad was my number one but a close second was Doug Walters. ;D
Who was your hero?

Probably Brocky although my old man worked for WD & HO Wills ( cigarette makers ) and I can remember him bringing home a poster of Alan Grice in his  Craven Torana and I followed him for a while. Grew up playing tennis so any number of Aussies , but also Bjorn Borg and Roscoe Tanner

Cricket was Dean Jones
Motor sport was Brocky
And rugby league was Steve Walters

They mentioned what posters you had on your wall too, my wall was covered with girls & cars

JCOJ

In cricket it was Jonty Rhodes - my son's middle name is after him.

For years it was Lance Armstrong, and I was always speaking for him and defending him having read all his books, and admired all he had done for the cancer cause etc. I was pretty shattered when it was confirmed - felt absolutely duped by the prick!!

My Dad .
He taught me to be resourceful
lean to look & not just see
                          question what l didn't understand
be able to & willing to help others
                          understand the beauty around you
learn to appreciate the tranquillity of isolation
                           to be me

Dean Jones and his Victorian spirit!

Later on it was Gilly. Probably not a hero but someone I admired was Jason Gillespie with his attitude towards the way he played.

But Deano was probably the best. Saw him make a one day hundred against Australia in a world ix game at the MCG years ago, bringing up the ton with a 6. Awesome player in his day.

Richard Hadley , Lance cairns.

Jeff Taylor.
I used to go to every one day at eden park in Auckland.
Most inspirational  foreign payers were joel Ghana,
Due to the obvious australian embarrassment to the sport at the time by those dickhead Chappel brothers it did raise some tensions be tween au vs nz.
Having said that rod marsh gained more respect for what a class act is by removing himself from the game  instead of disrespecting  himself like the rest.
He's a hero in my book for kids from anywhere

In my teens it was Possum, god rest him,

so can I change the title to who IS?
If so, its my one and a half year old Daughter  and my three year old son  >:D
For many reasons, but if it wasn't for my son I wouldn't be here. My daughter for her spirit.
Its amazing how when you sit back and take in past present and future where perspective can be placed.

The greatest gift you can give someone is your time, because when you give your time you are giving a portion of your life that you will never get back.
