Hi Swaggers,

My wife and I and the two dish lickers are planning on heading up to Gordon Country for 8 days before Xmas and as we aren't set up with independent power yet we were going to book one of their powered sites. My question is, has anyone used these before and how big are they? Just want to make sure their is plenty on room per site. There might only be the 4 of us but we tend to take up a lot of room  ;D. We have tried calling them to ask directly but keep getting the answering service.

Cheers

Mate, the only powered sites I am aware of are in the first campground as you enter Gordon Country.  It is on higher ground a little away from the creek and others can camp between you and the creek.  There are no actual sites other than an electricity pole (or is it two poles, can't remember) in the middle of the paddock.  You camp within your power lead's reach of the pole and run your power over to the pole.  Basically free camping.  Flushing toilets and hot showers nearby.  Not a bad spot and you can have a fire.  Firewood is available on site, you just have to collect it.  Have fun

I would try to go without power, there are heaps of nice secluded spots way better than the first camping area, Gordon country is a treasure of a place love it!
2010 TTD Landcruiser, i have added stuff but can't remember what! Slowly gettin quicker at setting up the brumby but breaking camp is another matter....

Yeah try to go unpowered. It's a great place out there (although overpriced now days) with enough room to stay away from everyone else.

I didn't even know they offered powered sites. If it is in the first camping area on the left...... Then do what you need to to go unpowered!

Thanks for the info guys. Haven't booked yet, didn't realise until we were about to book how expensive it was for an 8 day stay on power. We are going to look at investing that money into a reasonable solar set-up. In the meantime we are going to have a look around at other places.

Hi John,

if you are keen on the area there is also Janowen Hills 4x4 park on the same road (you pass it on the way to Gordon Country) . Not sure about powered sites there though.  You may be able to do a day trip up around Gordon Country's property.
