So I used to use Winamp for tagging MP3's and now their license has expired with the company (Gracenote) they used to use.

I have a few thou to go through and tag, so what other apps work to auto tag batches of tunes???

I use Mp3tag, easiest of all the ones I have tried and seems to work OK. Been using it for a couple of years now.

We have to start thinking about what sort of a world we are going to leave for Keith Richards after we are all gone.

+1 for mp3tag...  just works...

I like MediaMonkey, like iTunes but better (much better for tagging).

This. Have used it for as long as I can remember. Also dont forget to use mp3gain and set all your collection to 89bd. Its lossless and that level will eliminate clipping on 99.9 percent of tracks.

Trying to use mp3tag to reset/update all the album cover art. I appear to have set everything to the same single cover art. What's the trick?

Plus another for MM. I bought the gold version, and it's fantastic for full management of all your music files for tagging, syncing devices, playing, converting etc. You can also check which files have tag errors of a heap of different types. It also rips, although I use Exact Audio Copy for that.
Am just going through the process of re-ripping all my CDs to flac, once that's done I'll tidy up tags and embedded artwork with MM, then convert a copy to MP3 for the car.
4.2L TD Toyota Troopy, (Clarke's Country Camper Trailer, softfloor.) sold it and bought a Avan Ray small poptop caravan.

Are these apps free ? Where is the safest place to get them from as I need to tag some MP3 files for a predator caller I have.

Thanks
yogi

Did you try changing the online database source to one of the other options, like Cuetools?

I've done around 18 or 19 hundred albums so far, over the years. (and got about another 50 sitting here to do now)

Edit: Did you rip the music to Flac or MP3 format? Flac being lossless (even if compressed) is the best option, and you can easily encode from Flac to MP3 if you really need MP3. I rip all mine to Flac (compression level 3) for the NAS, but use MP3 @320Kbps for the car.
