Mine goes "wooh!" between gears on the up change, I have to down change about 5 gears going up hills, I have to climb up into the cab, I have a tray, and I tow things. I don't care what you guys call it, but I call it my truck.

The USA term for truck is short for PICKUP TRUCK, just like we have shortened UTE from Utility vehicle..

I quite like the calling a UTE either a ute or a pickup, cos thats what you do, you go to the hardware etc and pickup stuff and put it in the back.

Did a 4WD course years ago to get a permit to drive in the cooper basin mining area. The first thing the instructor did was to emphasise that the 80 series we were using was a truck. It may look like a car in the position of the steering wheel and the level of comfort, but due to handling it was a truck. If you try to drive it like a car you would get into trouble.

On that basis, an Austin A40 would also be considered a truck........

And a Landrover a tractor.  :D
With enough horse power, sheer ignorance and a total lack of respect for your vehicle, you'll get through....

It must be a common thing in North Queensland, I do refer to most 4x4's as trucks. I think it is something that has been passed down from generations and is still common.

It is a bit like when is an Esky not an Esky, or is it a chilly bin ?
Or a suit case is not a suit case in my generation up here , we call them ports.

Must be because we don't have daylight savings and are in the dark for an extra hour each day. ;D me thinks.

cheers duggie
