From Queensland?  Know a guy who cuts a B double load each week, all year, for a Victorian firewood seller.

Can't burn Queensland wood till next week. At the moment when you light it it takes an hour to catch on. Can't work out why...

Then I suppose we'll have to import firewood  :'(
Become a chippie and do renos on old houses, all the hardwood you want then. Just removed an old set of timber stairs from the outside of a house this week, all the step treads have been cut in half on removal and come home with me for firewood for home or weekend camping trips. The stringers went in the skip bin though, didn't want to be fishing out all the nails that are in them from my fire place later on.

agree, love burning old timber. I used to cut up and burn old redgum fence posts, nails and all. We throw all of our ash into the veggie garden so the old rusty burnt nails just help boost the veggie iron content😆

Probably obvious to you with appropriate training, but I'll often pass on old house frame timber as too risky if there may have been asbestos around at the time of building

lino6

Might end up with some old house timber soon hopefully!

these days when we get asbestos removed from a house, the guys doing it need to get it inspected and signed off on that it has been completly removed and cleaned up properly, so any timber we remove is pretty clean. I used to have a licence to remove asbestos, but i don't deal with that stuff these days, someone else can suit up and sweat their arse off removing it for us instead...lol

Firewood!!!  Im still running the Aircon on cool!
I was in Adelaide last week helping a mate cut some firewood for the winter, he introduced me to Chisel Chains. Its a slightly different shape tooth on the chain which removes the cut shavings alot faster. They are more expensive though.
Cheers

A friend of my dads years ago bought a 1930's Indian motorbike, it was running so they did the body work and paint first.
When they got around to the motor it started running a bit rough, turns out the old farmer that had it made a piston of red gum !
