Camping Stores (including online)

G'day folks,

Do you have any cracking camping stores (other than the chain stores) that you frequent in your area for gear and supplies? Do you use any online stores that offer good value? I say this as I was in Melbourne a few weeks back with some free time and no idea what camping stores were worth visiting. I figure it might be handy to have some recommendations in case we find ourselves interstate and in need of a visit.

If you are ever in Adelaide, I reckon Snowys (snowys.com.au) is the pick of the bunch. They do free delivery as well for online purchases.

Have to say that in Victoria, Rays, Anaconda and BCF seem to dominate, but have struggled to find anything new in them of late and they're clearly importing their own products now and the quality is not always great. Service just like any other chain store - adhoc.
Found the following 2 outlets best for service, range, brand names and always managed to help me out with that odd bit or piece I need.

We use to have Campco in Rocky until we got the big three, Rays, BCF and Freddy's. At least there they knew what they were talking about not like these chains.

I like kangaroo tent city, they are local to us at Tuggerah.
www.campingmegastore.com.au were very good and I have bought a fair bit of stuff from them in the past. They used to have a shop in west Gosford but it closed and now I think they are based in Melbourne. They don't seem to have as big a range online anymore either. They are still in eBay though.

Two other 'independent' camping stores in Adelaide worth a visit are;

Discount Camping is my preference because it is reasonably close to home and the owner seems to be a genuinely nice guy. They also sell via their website with reasonable postage costs

tentworld gets our vote too, extreemly helpful, had to change our delivery date, not a problem and sent via courier too. we bought from their online shop.

X2 for Cobram camp store always had good service there.  Havent been to the other one that scarps has listed.  There are a few in the port section of Echuca that are good for a wander around I did get the ozpig at one of them.

Tentworld seems to be the best price for most items. Beats everyone even including postage to Sydney. For bulky items ie a fridge use their pricing to match at anaconda and their price match gaurentee gives a further 10% off. Saves good dollars and you have item instantly and not at the mercy of couriers or Austrailia Post.

In WA Carry on Camping in Kelmscott is good.  Not a big store but has quality gear at good prices and the people know there stuff.  Have been at that location for years and despite a few of the big boys moving in just down the road they have a loyal customer base.
