Hello peoples,

I received a phone call today for some foreign prick claiming to be from the Australian Federal Government. They claim to be working on returning the over charged fund that banks have been ripping of the public for years . In my case $7268 or so the claim.

They supply a phone number to ring and a name , for verification reasons, 02 80061416    Maria Edwards or Edward Johns, at this point I was starting to believe that this was a scam, but I did call them to see where this was going, another foreign prick was on the end of he line and wanted personal details, bank details mailing address ETC.

They wanted me to supply banking details, which I declined to give , then they said that they could deliver a cheque to my address for the above amount, but before the cheque could be sent they would require a payment of $190.00 to assist payment to the lawyers who were working on this. The payment was to be sent by, YOU GUESSED IT ,  WESTERN UNION

I again declined and demanded that they put everything in writing and post the details to me.  I do believe that I will never receive this letter.

I am putting this out there as a awareness to those on this forum, I have not lost any money but they were very convincing and some may be a little more gullible than I .

have a nice day,

cheers duggie

I string them along for as long as I can, they get very upset at the end when they find out I was wasting their time.  Hey its war!! They waste my time I waste theirs!

Sadly I will never get to have any fun with those guys.
We've had our home number unlisted for over 20 years and never join those sweepstake things that make you put your address and phone number.
I get them at work but unfortunately I have to remain professional even to them

l have had the same  snoozer with the same amount from the Federal Govt  . What worriers me is the Feds have got the time to sit around adding up all the overcharges that could be applied to my spendings . For that matter what did l spend that much on & where , & can they prove it . ls it Bog Brother or just so far fetched that it screams  " Bull$#!t "
Got to give him credit for having a go . l didn't ring back so l will just have to trust them the cheque will arrive soon ...

I like the one where they tell me they are from Microsoft and they have detected a problem with my computer. I tell them I'm computer illiterate and tell them I will hand them over to the computer tech in the family. I then hand the phone to one of my 8year olds who have a nice conversation about monster high and barbie dolls. It's hillarious.  ;D

They get upset when I tell them we are a Mac family. I don't mention I do have an old laptop for programming radios.

Friend the other day had a call from a charity organisation.  She donated using her credit card.  Got a call that same afternoon from the same organisation and when she told them about the call that day they checked and had no record.  Hoping it is just an admin error and not a scam.  Kevin

Another scam doing the rounds is where somebody will  call you & telling you they are an insurance company & they have an insurance payout to give you from an accident xxx years ago but you need to send money to receive the money.
