Ok then, yes I had one on a 3L D22 Navara. I fitted it at the same time as a bigger zorst, so cant say if it was just the chip or not that improved things. Seat of the pants before and after testing on a stretch of long slow uphil run near home- towing camper with new pipe, but without chip, I could manage 85kph at the peak of the hill. With chip was able to get between 95 & 100 at the same point (both runs from a standing start. I didn't bother with the switch as I couldn't see the reason to turn of the extra power.

I've recently removed the Stienbauer (as I'm about to sell the car and will put the chip on ebay ?) and now it feels like a slug.

Go the bigger zorst pipe then if you want go the chip
You can go your own way . Treg Up & Make Dust

My 1kz prado (earlier diesel) has a beau desert 2 3/4 system. It makes more of an improvement than a chip on its own did. Plus u can add an EGT probe to monitor temps once u put the chip in.

I have an 06 3ltr d22 and the 3" exhaust from the dump pipe back is the best $700 I have spent on her.
Took me about 1 1/2 hours to install. Fitted up perfectly.
The turbo lag is now non existant, allowing the turbo to spool up a bit quicker so she gets a bit better fuel milage. I also picked up another 2 psi of boost. I used to max at 15psi now she will run up to 17psi

Spada , let me lnow when your going to part ways with the chip.

BHG.

as you know i had the d22 3.0lt before the patrol. i put the 3inch dump pipe & exhaust right through. couldnt have been happier with the torque increase. it was exactly a gear better on the hills.i also towed our jayco swan with it and was happy with the power.

IMO, try the bigger exhaust before you try the chip. i found i didnt need a chip in mine.

Thanks for the input so far guys, all new to this, my old lux was as slow as a wet week, and now im behind the wheel of this navara with a 3lt and turbo, its like getting behind a v8 again  ;D
it has the steinbauer in it and goes like a rocket can realy feel the turbo do its thing.
But I read somewhere that they can be turned of.?  So would love to be able to compare with and without....
fuel wise it runs on the smell of an oily rag, just done 2025 ks Sydney Brisbane and back and came in at 9.69 L per100
ks, so I recon its awesome on fuel and it has the balls to go with it.
But would like to know more about the setup, anyone recomend a company in Sydney that know this chip.??

I thought the Steinbauer is soldered in.  All vehicles are different and so some may go better with a larger exhaust and others not so.  It makes a big difference on the prados as they have an awful dump pipe std.  Not sure on the nav's

Yep, when I fitted a beaudesert on my Prado I couldn't believe how pissy the standard unit was.
Good advice though might be worth trawling around for some more info first and see what works best on the Nav before forking out the hard earned

How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?  (Homer J Simpson).
