Managed to do a reccy up the Murray on Saturday and picked out our spot for Easter, with some alternates for bad weather and/or other campers - look like going up next Monday or Tuesday as we all got next week off :)
you weren't in a group of 4by's and a commodore by any chance?

Unfortunately now looks like our plans to Tamala are put on hold....The Prado battery light has come on and wont go away - even after being on the battery charger so thinking the alternator is dying only upside is thankfully we realise now and not on the highway.

Bestbrook up at Cunningham's gap with a few other families. Typical farm stay type camping from what I gather with plenty for the young ones while the big kids share a quiet drink or two...

How is education supposed to make me feel smarter? Besides, every time I learn something new, it pushes some old stuff out of my brain. Remember when I took that home winemaking course, and I forgot how to drive?  (Homer J Simpson).

That's a bugger. Definatly the alternator. I have had that happen, trailer hooked on, 5 mins from home and bang, light came on, dropped into mechanic and yep alternator died.   :-[

Yeah a run around town last night after picking the husband up from work proved the alternator is dying as the radio system starting losing power and trying to start up - thankfully we were just down the road from home.  We might be lucky and have an alternator here by tomorrow as his boss is ringing around trying to find one through the work suppliers and getting it couriered ASAP so there is still a chance to get away but not holding my breath.

still plenty of room up on the Murray, but it will fill quickly from mid next week. If you want to set up this weekend, Sue and her cousins up there now could keep an eye on your kit til you come back up.

ATC

Taken a lot of calendar co-ordination, including having the Ex-Wife tell the daughter that she's going, negotiating holidays with work for the missus and I.

Fraser Island - planning 5-6 days on the island, and stopping in to get a feed & stay at the parent place in Brisbane either side.

Thanks Scarps, all dependant if the bos can get the time off otherwise we could left with the standard public holidays..Best we could do is leave Thursday..Need to work something out quickly me thinks.

QuoteHere's hoping Victoria's parents are stocked up on Monopoly and Scrabble.

The Bureau of Meteorology has cast a dampener on the plans of Victorian parents for the school holidays with seven days of rain forecast for metropolitan Melbourne and the majority of the state.

Extra waterproof and all-weather gear is advised for the brave souls setting off for the Victorian wilderness with the Easter school holidays a popular time for family camping trips.

But while it may be wet for the following week with rain forecast every day until Monday, the mercury is not expected to drop much below 15 degrees as a minimum with most days forecast to be a relatively balmy 22 degrees maximum.

A trough and low pressure system combined last week to bring the heaviest rainfall in over a year to parts of eastern Victoria and the soggy weather shows no sign of abating in Victoria's capital.

The next seven days will mark the first significant rainfall in Melbourne since February 17, when the city received 15 mm of rain, according to Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Dean Stewart.

He said Melbourne could expect up to 50mm in the next week with the "eastern suburbs a chance to get a good deal more depending on the low developing off the coast on Friday."

The forecast rainfall was generally consistent with autumnal weather patterns, he said.
