Fell off the myswag radar for some time a while back.
Ignored a few personal and friendly and very helpful PMs, I apologise.
Long story short, I was contemplatibg a career change, with no job security at all.
Was feeling quite down and doubting myself ALOT.
Had a few other issues, health wise. Few deaths in the family, close family.
Wife hit me with a bombshell and told me she's leaving me, sank deeper and deeper into the dark hole I now understand to be depression.
Didn't want to see friends, pushed myself away from family and sunk ever deeper.
Not afraid to say it, but with medication and counselling, started coming back up. Its not a pooftas disease or anything, or a poor excuse, it really messes with you and is more common than most people think.
I didn't want to leave the safety of my own house, didn't want to see anyone and definitely didn't want to try anything for fear of failure or rejection or loss.
Now back on myswag, and I know its not the same, but its start to being social again......
Swaggers might have a different view of me, but only those who've dealt with it really understand.
Hope I can keep going stronger and keep on track.
Hope to rejoin the myswag and see what I've missed out on all this time.
Thanks
Why do people ask "What the hell were you thinking?"
Obviously I was thinking I was going to get away with it and not have to explain it....

Hi Cruisin

well done old mate, your post took a lot of courage and really shows what a strong person you are
Trust yourself to believe there are better days ahead, and make sure to look out for the times magic happens, just like the days Shit happens, they are there
There is no shame in depression, it is a nasty horrible thing and you are entitled to our support, no doubt plenty on here have first hand experience and know your pain
Keep strong and one day at a time, keep faith in your strength

Far out mate.  Wondered what had happened to you.  Good to hear you are on the road back to good health.  Give me a shout if you need to talk.  Always willing to listen.

Welcome back. Depression can be described as "sadness gone stale". Trick is to not let it go mouldy! By the sound of it you've taken the right steps to get things back on track.

As you've discovered, it is a very real medical condition but for some reason if you have a "traditional" disease people feel sorry for you but when it's a mental health issue they keep clear. The responses on MySwag suggest that you've come to the right place for a bit of support and understanding.

All the best

As others have said, great to have you back.

Along with others I did wonder why you had gone missing. Great to hear that some actually spent the time to shoot a pm, even if you wernt in that space to answer them.

All the best pal.

Welcome back and thanks for sharing. As has already been said you are not alone and have come to the right place for some support.

Depression and othe mental health issues are often shunned, many of us have been through it and from the sounds of it people here are very supportive and understanding which is fantastic.

Thanks for sharing and thanks to the MySwag Community for being understanding.

Welcome back and with such an honest post that was probably hard to type and hit send I think more and more people are becoming aware of the reality of depression/anxiety/panic attacks that these are not some made up thing in the persons mind but are very real and can be very hard to deal with.  I do think there is still a long way for society to go on it but heading in the right direction.  Myswag is like a big family so I am sure you will be glad to be back amongst it.

Great to have you back CruisinDub, and you telling us your circumstances is inspiring!!  Realising, and then talking about depression is the hardest step, and you have done that admirably, and no doubt encouraged others to do so as well!!
