Well after 12 odd years and a few repairs along the way our old kmart plastic fold up table finally had it's last trip over over xmas. One break to many for the now brittle plastic.

So I'm in need of a new one. Is there anything good out there? I don't mind the plastic tables with the match bench seats which lock in underneath for storage but they are heavy and the tables bow so I was hoping for something else.

I want an all in one unit that comes with chairs / seats to use at the table height.

Any recommendations?

i know you want all in one, but here me out.

i use a folding tressle table from the big blue shed, $40 i think. that folded and four camp chairs is the same size as my mates all in one unit.

Pig pens as what ive know them buy are cramped horrible things, reminds me of going to my grandparents house and having to sit with one leg pressed up against a table let, gets real old quick.

Go back to kmart. They are still good for camping stuff.

Problem with that is the camp chairs. Our chairs are more lowish relaxed posture. Great for sitting back, not so for sitting at a table. I don't want to carry two sets of chairs for a family of five.

I'll have a look I guess. Just haven't been to kmart in ages. Anything I've bought from there relatively recently has been junk. Prices are so low that something has to give.

I have a range of 'proper' (read expensive) camp tables.  These days I default to fold-in-half blow-mold jobbie.  I think it was $32.00

I know the problems when trying to eat off a table from a camp chair, so I went looking for stackable plastic stools like my grandparents had in the caravan years ago.

Now when i were a lad plastic stools were everywhere, but not so easy to source these days.  Found some at Clark Rubber for $14.00 each, so not particularly cheap. http://www.clarkrubber.com.au/handyman-stool-white.html
But, at the table it's easy for kids and adults to just slip on and off the stool without having to actually move the stool in the dirt, or upset the table.  Unless you wear a long dress..............

They also double as side-tables when sitting on a camp chair around the fire.

You don't need to be careful with them when packing, but they do take up some space.  I stack them and put them under a seat in the Jayco with stuff packed inside the space. One stool takes up almost the same volume as six.

Another use is as a carry bag.  Invert them, fill the space with fishing gear, get a kid each side on a 'handle' , and walk down to the jetty for a fish.  You've got something to sit on when you get there

If you go for a separate table you might want to check this one out http://www.bunnings.com.au/marquee-122x61x74cm-steel-bi-fold-blow-mould-table_p3191274

We bought one that looks the same from Anaconda for a lot more money.  The 2 things I like are the legs can be at 3 heights ans it folds easily and takes up little space

scarps

We use this table for short camp stays, eating, card games etc. Not big, but very stable and while only 2 chairs included, it's v/easy for 2 more people to sit on a stool either side.

I know you said fam of 5, but I'll still throw this table in as an idea.

When we know we're camping for a week or more, we still take this table but also throw a 5' trestle table in and use our camp chairs.
Yes height is often an issue with folding camp chairs, but I just dig the table legs into the ground and lower the table height to camp chair height.

Anyone know if you can get good / light 1800 X 900mm folding trestle at 900mm bench height?  Everything I come across is table height around 700mm.  They kill my back using them as a prep bench.

Not the size you want but its high enough http://www.anaconda.com.au/Product/Camp-and-Hike/Outdoor-Furniture/Outdoor-Tables/4ft-Folding-Table

I bought this as a prep table for the same reasons as you.  It has 3 heights.

I'd check out this one at Bunnings it's a lot cheaper and may be the same http://www.bunnings.com.au/marquee-122x61x74cm-steel-bi-fold-blow-mould-table_p3191274

Can't say I know of any "Good All In One" combination table and chairs..  --  plastic tables sort of suck.. easy to burn a hole in them, heavy, stain etc etc..  I have used them.

What we use now is good quality aluminium slat tables and plastic folding stools

I pay a little extra for the tables some years ago (We have both a small and large table)  --   the stools only found those this Christmas  -- only paid about $10 each for the stools ..  The way that the stools fold makes them for very easy packing.

NewieCamper

We got one like the white coloured one here, second one down. It is a bit bulky, but quite stable and folds up into itself for travel. Camp chairs are for general sitting around, table stools are for meal times. We didn't really look around for super compact when buying and a couple of friends had similar. Setup time for them is also nice and quick compared the alloy slat types.
