Thought I'd post a quick shot of what VC has come up with as a way of flushing out the brake assembly on their Cruisemaster range after being up the beach for a week.. Great idea guys! Just plug the hose in and let it rip

Slightly off topic - As per the picture at the top, is that the correct way to run the hand brake cable through the brake lever arm?

I am about to run my hand brake cable through a very similar lever and wanted to be sure this was the right way. I thought a thimble (or a guide) might be needed as the cable bends 180 degrees in a fairly short distance.

They is a guide to run a cable through on the back of the drum but in a lot of instances, mine being like the pic above, the cable runs through an eye on the chassis down to the drum.

As long as it is not obstructed it is fine. In my case, running it through the guide would obstruct it.

Thanks Danny. I am just thinking of how the cable might be stressed with such a sharp and sudden turn back onto itself at the point where it also carries all the load when engaged.

But if this is how others do it, then it must be OK.

Oh ok you mean where it actually loops through the lever?  Yeh thats how mine is too, never had an issue. Its not like you are always using the handbrake. I mean sure it gets used a bit but that wire strop is good for thousands of uses before it would chafe through id imagine
