A curly one...
I have a Galaxy s3, had it for nearly 2 years now, no real problems, but seemed to be getting slow switching between screens/pages.
So I done a factory reset...
Now my battery life is down the shoot...!
I was getting around 12 hours Plus before the reset.
Now i'm down to half that..!
As far as apps go....there's none on there yet... so it's not an apps running in the background..
Ideas ..?

Recharge memory is also an issue, decreasing during life.

I get over two days out if my 5s at the moment, will see how it goes.

Isnt that the life of a mobile. Its tied in with the plans  ;D
All men dream but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity; but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dream with open eyes to make it possible.

Do you turn it on?

We have 20 S3's at work and none of them get more than 1-2 days out of them.. the GFO bought 2 spare batteries for his as he got sick of it dying on him.

I miss the days of phones being phones and not fashion items... and batteries lasting weeks.

Phone is left on all the time, son wanted to put after market operating system in to increase battery life, he has an S3
but didn't see any need to change from standard in the S4 as it goes for days without and recharge and standard apps,
only thing i've added is the Ebay app.

I have an S2 (personal) which doesn't get used much & it won't make it till 9PM. Battery is new & gets same time as the old one which I still use as backup. I have a new Nokia 625 windows phone (work) which get's used much more and I get 2-3 days out of it.
I think it is time to factory default my S2.
Android phones do seem to suck the life out of batteries.

There is a problem with some S3's at the moment. Freezing, intermittent restarting, not charging properly etc. There is an app on the play store that lets you know if it is effected eMMC brickbug check. the only fix for the effected units is a main board replacement.

Did u do the factory reset with it fully charged? If u didnt u will have changed the battery calibration.  Try leaving it on charge for a good while so u know its fully charged and do the reset again.  This is a common problem when flashing custom firmware/roms to Android devices.

Apple's recommendation for keeping batteries in good condition is to allow the device to run flat on a regular basis, say monthly. Leave flat for at least 2 - 5 hours, then recharge.  I would think that the same process would be good for all lithium based batteries, but it's only a guess.

Have a look online for the Zerolemon 7a/h battery. Standard is 2.1a/h.
I haven't got one but have just been looking at extended batteries.

It makes your phone about 12mm thick apparently but battery life would be fantastic.

Comparing battery life with others is pretty useless though. I have a 4g S3 and can get anything from 2 full days to just a few hours depending on what I'm doing with it.

Ok, plenty of replies, thanks guys,
Ok, I did say problem only started when I reset back to factory settings...
So it's not battery age,  would not put it down to memory problem with battery, s3 power saving mode is on,. Yes I seen the bigger capacity battery out there but they are no good to me as my otterbox  will not fit then, and I do need a good case on the phone.

86gav..... good point, not sure what state battery was at when I reset, will try and redo over the weekend on a fully charged battery,
I will update this post  over the weekend,
Thanks guys.....

Zerolemon have a case that looks like the Otterbox Defender that fits standard phones and with also with either of their larger batteries.

I have the Otterbox Defender but don't use it anymore. The rubber sides went floppy and no longer clipped around the phone.
The iphone cases are doing similar at work. Not worth the money in my opinion.
This is all before 12 months old.

Although given this happened suddenly then I agree you need to find the cause.

Here is the answer to all your battery life issues.

About 19000mah equivalent.

leaving the gps and bluetooth activated on my phone tends to kill the battery bloody fast

Ok,,, should of updated this thread a while ago...
Tried everything suggested, no go,,,
So, went with the extended battery,  4500mah, from a company in Sydney, $10.50 including a new rear cover to suit.
Result .... 2 days.. ! Perfect   ;D
Can get up to 4 days using  "easy battery saver" app.
Also got the zerolemon case to suit the extended battery,, $32..   :'(  that hurt  .!
So at this stage... Happy Chappy.. ;D

I ordered a 4500mah battery for my S3 as well. Mine is coming from China on the slow boat. 3 weeks so far.

Do you have a micro SD card?
I have a Sandisk Ultra 32gb disk. It was mounting over and over and I didn't realise it was doing it so often. It failed completely this week. Luckily it was completely backed up. Anyway turns out Sandisk has admitted their Ultra 32gb and 64gb cards had issues.
While mine was continually mounting itself it chewed the battery.
Sandisk are replacing them under warranty as they fail.
