These Scum are the lowest of lowes and should be thrown into the fires to burn.  >:( >:(

I agree robbo, these events generally bring out great community spirit and support, but unfortunately bring out the a***hole scum that seems to travel australia following these events

We were very lucky. Here are some pics.

This is at the bottom right of the yard. The cubby was just burnt and you can see where the fire was burning in our yard but our Tenant decided to stay and put that out

These next two are at the very bottom right of our property and this is the other side of the Valley where all the houses are lost. You can see there is only a few metres from our yard

This house is, was next door at the bottom of our yard.

This is how lucky we were. The leaves were scorched on our roof

This is the house at the bottom of the yard in the pic.

This is the street where you are hearing about all the losses. This is 1 house from our place.

I must admit I'm over the blood thirsty TV stations and morning shows interviewing people who have lost everything and saying **** like
"so how you feeling now you have nothing left"
"you must be upset your house burnt to the ground?"

That's pretty heavy Steve..

But there is some good people out there
some old lady rang up some radio station yesterday and donated all her furniture from within her house and bedding etc... she said she can get by..  :cup: :cup: :cup: the aussie spirit :cup: :cup: :cup: :cup:

Yea, that also sucks. Lots of great mems from there. Used to love to take the kids there and they loved it when Thomas the Tank engine was in town. Going to be a while until it all settles down

And yea, how good are some people.  :cup:

Plus they just went through Hell to keep it open through lack of finances, this is a bad blow for a great tourist attraction.

I thought it was a PR stunt until I read Mr Abbott has been a member of the NSW Rural Fire Service for 13 years and is trained as a specialist breathing apparatus operator, chainsaw operator and tanker driver.
I owe, I owe, it's off to work I go...

I remember he was involved in the fires down the south coast on NSW around Nowra a few years ago so he has been doing it for a while.

Agreed all three are easy to pass. But you still have to put in the time to do them. Never saw Gillard in yellow overalls

I remember reading somewhere that he was once the 2IC for his RFS group, but had to stand down to give priority to his public duties.

He's also copped a fair bit of flack from various people who say that he has more important things to do with his time, like running the country for example.

I thought maybe Abott needs to learn to delegate, but then I thought it can only be good for the RFS. If our transport ministers caught trains and our school ministers went to school maybe the action would be more direct.

And our defence ministers went to war! Our social security ministers go on the dole - Ridiculous. Minister's should govern not look for photo and pr ops.

We don't need our Defence minister to go to war, strange comment you should want a war, maybe they should have served in the ADF but then you would have a narrow choice

that would be fair enough if he joined last week.. he joined 13 years ago.. I don't think photo ops were on his mind then..

Yea, seems strange those few have an issue with him helping. I don't give a rats who saves my house if it's on fire and they all turn up there anyway to bleat on about giving assistance for this and that anyway so why not put out a fire or two while he is there.

It really is not a big deal.

Well been away all weekend, got the call last night,   people I know from down the end of Steve and Vivs rd... there house is gone, they lost everything... you guys may even know of them .. the "Pendlebury's".....
Then I find out my brother is on alert, ready to be evacuated should the 3 fires merge... he is in Leura...

From memory when Abbott was indigenous affairs minister he spent weeks teaching aboriginal school kids up near Coen.  Love him or hate him you got to admit he does put some effort in.

Although it would cause havoc for his security detail, I think it would be a big morale boost to have the PM there supporting you on the ground.
