12 volt camping shower

Hi im trying to find any threads on here about making a 12 volt camping shower does any one know where they are hiding when i enter words in the "search" tab my pc freezes migh thave another bug in it i guess

We have tried all kinds of 12v showers, drop in bucket etc. But the absolute best has been out carcube 12v pressure washer. Its basically a marine pump in a tank but its the pressure that makes the difference. Its amazing how little water you need when its pressurised to blast the soap suds off compared to the other types of 12v showers. We just boil a kettle if its a little cool and do a 50/50 mix of hot and cold water. Just took the switch out of a household light switch.
I have since changed to a Anderson plug set up direct to the second battery in the Tug.

Mine is made from a 750GPM bilge. It has heaps of pressure. I use a large rubber bucket for the water.  The shower uses 19mm garden hose. here are some pics.

My setup is pretty much the same as Muzza's but with 1100gph , have used a crappy $20 shower that you can buy off ebay but my current setup leaves it for dead and you can shower and wash your bits and peices in half the time     . Keep in mind though power usage on your batteries..

Just in the process of making the 12 volt shower similar to those listed above ,i have a 500gpm  bilge pump but i think it is struggling a bit to pump the water up about 6 foot of 20 mm id pvc pressure pipe to the rose so im thinking if i get a 1000gpm bilge pump it should solve the problem?/ any thoughts.

also i want to put a tap in the line but this my create to much pressure on the pump ?? so if i put a on/off switch in the wiring i can start and stop as required um guess i just asked and answered what do you think

Something is wrong, MY 750GPM really pumps well with the same length at 19mm hose.  When I first trialed it at home it worked really well but whilst camping and using river water, it slowed up. I checked the back of the shower head and it had a fine gauze filter and a water saving device internally fitted and it was slightly clogged with grass.  I got a screwdriver, removed the filter and punched out the water saving device (aplogogies to the greenies) and it worked better than before.  I might go for a wander down the shed and get some pics for you. I grabbed some pics, you can see it has a fair stream coming out.  I didnt set it up 6 foot high for the pics but that is how we have used it the last couple of camping trips.



I took the shower head off to try and show the the pressure. There is sh1t loads of pressure.

would wrapping the pump in some pantyhose stop it getting blocked as easy?

It wasnt the pump, it was the dumbass filter and water re-stricter in the back end of the shower head. I didnt have too much gunk in the bucket but some decent lingerie fitted would certainly make it look more attractive

I guess there would be some wilds nights at your camp .... lol

Just a heads up but fish net stockings  don't make for a very good filter either ..

Maybe not, but fishnets group the hairs on my legs really neatly together.

Well the The Mrs has been away visiting her parents for 12 days now and she is not due home until Wednesday.
I am at the stage that I will try anything.

Thinking of making a coil out of some GI pipe and running through the Ozpig to heat, 12v pump and a shower hose.

In the end I just need a shower to keep the better half happy, I can put up with own stink

I used a system like that years ago. The problem is regulating the temp.  Believe it or not, the water heats up really quickly so if your wife like really hot showers, it will suite.

Finished the shower project to day but gee its savage on battery power if you have 5 people using it ina day now i think 500gpm is to much it empties the bucket and i still got soap in my eyes smaller pump ? but will a smaller one push the water up 6 Ft or do i have a tap in line to control flow or may be a rose with only a few holes  /

I recycle the water. I stand in the big bucket so the majority of the water goes back into the bucket. With me and the Mrs, sometimes we share the same water depending how much water is available where we camped.
I usually add about 7 or 8 litres of hot and about 15 of cold (if water is plentiful where we a camped). The kids can share the water.
I guess with 5 people, the current draw could add up. Mine draws 2.5 amps. So for me and the mrs having a 10 minute shower each would only draw 0.8Ahours.
