Noisy Stretcher (King Goanna)

I've had a King Goanna stretcher for a while now and it has been great. However, lately it has been creaking a lot. Any tiny little movement will set it off and it is loud enough to wake me and the rest of the camp.  Any ideas on how to quiet it down?

I've never noticed it before, but it was a good 10-20 degrees warmer the other times I've used it.  It is solid, no more movement in it now than when it was new.

Can't say I have noticed any noises, other than bodily function, coming from our King Goanna stretcher.

Have someone locate the area which is making the offending "creak" and apply a proportionate amount of lubrication to the "creak".  Depending on the area in which the "creak" is located, thus will determine the appropriate lubricant to be used.  Measuring the amount of "creak" to be found after required lubrication, should either alleviate or necessitate future lubrications.  Ensure you stow upon your vehicle or mobile canvas accommodation, in a pre-determined position, a portion of the lubricant used.  When the "creak" reappears, one will be able to reapply where and when required.

Ours creak also but I have gotten used to it.  Maybe you just need to drink more

Sounds like a good idea, the "problem" being I'm currently using it as a nightly bed while I do some renovations in a place I'm moving to.  I might develop a habit and undo all the good work from the last few years.

But what type of lubricant would be suitable?  Most are fairly messy and the way the stretcher packs I don't think there anywhere you'd put oil/grease/etc without it getting all over everything when you pack up.

Yeah, that's what I've been thinking.  Would be good to find a solution though.

I would suggest a very quick squirt of canola oil or similar (maybe use something small to dab it in there?)  ... it dries quickly but does still have a stickiness to it ... it's all we use at work ... it's all we have at work ... haven't heard any of our doors "creak" since we did it.  I used similar on my sticky lock at home (no fear boys ... it wasn't IN the lock ... just the bit above it on the outside edge that hits the striker plate) ... worked a treat ... no more midnight slamming for the neighbours to complain about (and they did complain).

That could work and wouldn't be messy, I'll pick up a tin.  Won't be back to the stretcher for another 3 days now though.  Stuck in the "city" (Dubbo) for some appointments.  Hopefully I can fix up my 12v lights while I'm here and get something useful done for the rest of the week.

I also like 'dry lube'
is great for zips and runners etc.
I keep a can in the camp kit. use on tent zips, jackets and other things.
Also clean to use.
