I just had a great tour through the KK factory in Ballina. I went there as I'm on holidays in Bangalow and I thought they may have a showroom, no luck but Brett the General Manager was happy to show me around.
Great looking product asthetically and structurally. You buy a KK and you can see where your dollars go, into a top Australian made product.

Yeah we stopped there three years ago on our way home from the cape, and even though they were closed due to a local public holiday, Ron, the owner of the business was there and was happy to spend an hour or so showing us around. It was certainly good to see the campers in their various stages of construction. We even picked up a quick awning for $300 instead of the usual $1000 or so.

Hi All,

Is there any truth in the story that the majority of the KK components are made over seas and then only assembled in Australia?

Thanks

Dave

No idea....but they must assemble them in a different factory to the 3 lettered brands and send their staff to a different after sales service school if it's true   ;D

Yeah, the heater and cooktop is from Germany, I think the brakes are American.

Some things are inevitably Chinese. I have no idea but would expect a reasonable amount of the electrics are made in China. The key is product and manufacturer selection and control.

The above is a bit different to the acronym brand "manufacturers"

Great, thanks for the feedback.

I was a little surprised when I heard it and now that we are looking for one I wasn't sure whether there was a particular year that is changed over.

The question is, what hasn't been part manufactured or made with overseas products these days.
We're all driving imported cars, yes?

Angus.

I was talking to a bloke today who brought a new Colorado. In less than one year he has had a new engine, a new transmission and one other thing.

Since the diff in the Patrol died at 30,000km we both agreed we should have gone a Great Wall. Everything is made overseas and hit and miss. At least this way we wouldn't have overspent on a vehicle :(
